MY: Fun to drive?

I had a 600hp supercharged S2000 on Ohlins coilovers and a modded 996 turbo on H&R coilovers and I think a MYP is both, very fun to drive and is great in the twisties! It definitely does not feel like a 911 simply because the weight is equally distributed, but it can definitely hang with the S2K on the same roads. The one thing that is holding the MY back is the stingy stability control that does not want to let the tail out, however, even in stock trim these cars are set up with some oversteer and you can feel the chassis try to boogey. Maybe once we get that track mode...

Just to add to the fray, if you don't have problem for parking two cars,
and money is not too much of an issue, I would keep the Miata.

The Model Y is certainly nice to drive in many aspects,
but it handles more like an SUV compare to the Miata.
If you need to drive in a city where street parking is difficult,
having a much larger car might be an issue.
The turning circle of the Model 3/Y is not great,
so you will have to perform a 'K' turn in many situations
instead of a simple 'U' turn.
This makes also parallel parking even more difficult in a tight spot,
as you will need to perform many maneuvers compare to the Miata.

Otherwise, the Model Y would provides a lot more space and
the motor will be even more powerful compared to the Miata.

I noticed that some user mentioned getting the Model 3.
The driving would be certainly nicer but if you have a dog,
you will have to use the rear seats.
There are some special padding to do cover the rear seats.
Or to have the rear seat folded, so your dog will have plenty of space,
but you will lose your trunk space.

I was in your situation, I had an older VW GTI, and I finally kept it,
as I was able to park both cars.

Having a second car don't cost to much extra insurance,
especially as I insured it for a low mileage.
In fact, my Tesla was rear ended, and it took about 9 months
to get it repaired. So having a second car was very helpful.

Otherwise, having two cars might not not really be justified.
Also, ICE cars are not a good investment, as the sale of them
will be ban in the future, and will be even more difficult to sell.

IMO no it is not, but it is not intended to be.

I have the MYLR and a 991.1 911 C2S, and previously a 987.1 boxster - both are taken to the track (laguna seca, thunder hill, sonoma, button willow etc). Tesla has torque/acceleration but the driving dynamics leave something to be desired, probably need a roadster to come closer.

Thinking about this on the street/canyon carving the MY is much closer to a GT-R than a Miata in terms of power delivery/weight/4wd, its a different type of more video game fun vs sports car.

It is not right when you compare MYLR to Porsche 911.

it's provided as a frame of reference that I like and enjoy a certain type of car, and for the record the boxster which is closer to a Miata (have driven a friends spec miata on the track) than the 911 for me was more fun to drive, the 911 tho is an icon and the poster I had on the wall as a kid and a childhood dream :)
