My VIN is gone!

2+ weeks since my order and I had provided them everything and was just waiting for a firm home delivery date and now I still have no purchase agreement from them and no purchase link. Now I have no VIN (now new car has to be built).
I do not understand what just happened and what will happen now and I’m getting almost no info from them.

Can anyone help?

they probably found some problem with the car assigned to you.

Mine never show up at all. My order was for an inventory model. So after I ordered, I had to contact my sale advisor to email me the VIN. Even after all the financial stuff and payment, the VIN is not displayed at all in the account. However, it is in the MVPA document.

For a tech company like Tesla, their account system is pretty crap. For example, I have done all the paperwork for financial and just recently, the overview popup only checked off the Payment part, but in the main page, it said they are working on drafting the final contract, which I already had the MVPA and signed it.

I suggest to try reaching out with the delivery specialist, sale advisor, Tesla service center, and their main CS number one after another to persist them with that missing information.

My account showed the RN and the VIN and a fictitious delivery date as I’m a home driver. Everything was complete except for the purchase agreement which was shown that they were generating. There was no link to make the final payment so I couldn’t do that if I even wanted to.

For my specific case, I financed the car and trade in my current one. After getting the financial approval, I had to wait for the trade-in completed in order for them to provide me the purchase agreement and then I could upload that for my bank to finalize the loan. When the delivery specialist finalized the MVPA (Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement), the ACH portal was opened for me to pay the rest of the amount in order for them to transit the car to service center, since my state does not allow them to sale directly. You should just contact the specialist or call them and ask for the purchase agreement and don't pay anything until they provide you with that. Also, be careful with the ACH stuff since I did the payment and somehow it went through twice. People had similar problem like that and I suspected they sent the request twice somehow. Once you have done the ACH, check your email and see if there are multiple email for confirmation about that. If that is the case, then immediately let the bank and Tesla know that so they can reverse the transaction quickly. Otherwise, in my case, my bank had to refund the transaction but that took like 2-3 days.

They now have added the link to my account so I can make full payment. Should I do that without having a VIN or a purchase agreement? It feels way too cart before the horse to me....or is this “normal” for a home delivery?

I would not recommend paying Tesla before you inspect the car and confirm it meets your expectations. If you end up rejecting the car because of any issues it may have you will create a very messy situation for yourself where they have your money and you have no car. You can just submit your payment via ACH after inspecting the car right before you leave the service center.

I had to pay the ACH payment in order for it to be transited through the service center, and then will be shipped to me later. It depends on the state law and if there is a service center in your state. My state does not allow sale directly and they said they can only transit the car to my nearest service center, which is in Dallas when all the payments have been received.

Update:

4/16: ordered LR-AWD, white/white, 19’s
4/18: matched with VIN (Buffalo, NY)
5/2: VIN released (Tesla logistics issue)
5/6: new VIN match
5/9: car arrives Mt. Kisco for NY processing
5/14: carrier matched for delivery
5/16: car to be shipped
5/17: car delivery???

I know others have experienced worse but it’s been an incredibly painful process to say the least.

I feel your pain, truly. My ordering process was EXTREMELY painful. Sure, the "do it online" in 2 minutes was true but then after that......ugh. The good news was the car is solid and the delivery itself was painless. But to get from "order" to "delivery confirmed"....nightmare.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and Tesla.

I just configured my Model 3 SR+ with White Seats and FSD on May 3rd. Waiting patiently for a VIN and wondering where/how it actually shows up in your account? What's the exact process that I should be expecting?

Financing has been approved and all it has said for the past 9 days has been "Next Step: We are drafting up your contract and will contact you when you can make your final payment."

Thanks!

Tesla.com, log in and the RN number will show. I'm guessing this will change to VIN one day in the distant future. I've been waiting since April 25 and looks like it still a ways away still. White interior seems to be a forgotten art for now.

Yes, I see the RN number, but I thought that was different than the VIN.

Did you get White interior as well?
Yes the RN is Reservation Number (I think) and it should change to a VIN number once it is built/assigned (I think). Or it just may be added to it but should show both. Also does your Tesla App still work? I have a thread about mine and others and how it quit working here. Can't log into my Tesla iPhone app today (pics)
Would like to know if it is time based shut off or if all new orders are suffering this.

And yes I ordered white interior (Red/White, AWD, 19" & FSD).

The App worked initially and then stopped letting me login around May 6th or 7th. Kept showing an error that I had "no products assigned to this account".

Same issue with the app. I used to have links to videos and access to my "loot box" now, nothing. I did a website purchase on 4/28 for P3D (white/white) +FSD, and I'm still looking at just an RN. I talked to my local dealer and the update they gave me is "May delivery." Eagerly awaiting a change in status!

So my story is only getting worse. My car was supposedly loaded on a truck to come to me 2 days a ago and was reportedly “on the way” yesterday and now the third day has come and gone without the truck driver contacting me and giving me any kind of an idea of what day or approx time I might get a delivery. Apparently, Tesla buyers should put their entire lives on hold and just sit patiently for the honor of actually receiving the car they ordered over a month ago.
