No timeline on this except to say 1 million units/year is planned for the early 2020s. Tesla deployed in 2016. That's a delay of ~4-8 years. Huge from a financial and safety perspective.

Almost all solid state Lidar company is aiming for 2018/2019 for full production.
This includes AEye, Osram Opto Semiconductors, Leddar, quanergy, and Innoviz.

This is ofcourse in-addition to the Ibeo Valeo Scalar Lidar that is already currently in production on the 2018 Audi A8 and is sometimes also used in combination with Ibeo Lux Lidar by Nissan, Audi, BMW, Honda and Hyundai in their L4 systems.

I would agree waiting for Lidars would have delayed AP2 by 1.5 years. (Not 4+ years though.)

Looking at the state of AP2 though, maybe it should have. :)

But there was no reason not to have 360 degree radar in 2016. Such a silly omission that one.
