No VINs in October?

I ordered a AWD Model 3 in red in Tx on 9/28. Was delivered a day early on 10/14. Texas is one of the states that they cannot direct sell in so that was really pushing it. There were no inventory cars available when i ordered at one of the galleries, they checked the 500 mile radius. It was the end of quarter and everything was gone. But I still got delivery in just over 2 weeks...having patience is the hardest part. It feels like forever but it was pretty smooth. I can’t imagine Tesla shutting down US deliveries for an entire month, it may be a week or two but a month creates too much backlog everywhere.
Hopefully with the Gigafactory opening soon in China will help speed up the process.

I ordered on 9/25 and am still waiting for VIN assignment in Texas. I do think config plays a part in it, but patience really is key. I'm happy that they can do what they do in Texas despite the hurdles. It helps to pass the time and scratch that Tesla itch for me by reading up on the owner's manual, watching the new summon videos, and learning about the updates my car will be receiving for problems that I never even had the chance to experience.

In TX as well. I saw a couple not too awful wait times today which is good news. Looks like the average order to delivery is around 17 days, so hopefully it’s within that or not too much after.

Seeing some more October VINs float up in the spreadsheet today which is promising.

Agreed: I noticed that too. And tezz.la is showing the occasional *new* 6-miles-only high-end M3 appearing in the market from time to time now. So while there's only a slow trickle of domestic cars, there doesn't appear to be a full stop...

Nothing makes sense. Tesla can make 5000-7000 cars a week in Fremont alone. That's a lot of ships to load if even for a few weeks.

Tesla was delivering fast in the first week of October - I had an Oct 1 (delivery to be Oct 9th) that I messed up on and couldn't take delivery. Tesla supposedly had 3000 cars in inventory at Q3 end and couldn't get them out to delivery. Now I've reordered and hear 6-8 weeks on a good day. It doesn't make sense. Nothing like this was reported in the older threads from this point in Q3 or Q2.

I give up on trying to make sense out of this. Tesla is doing something and we will all find out in good time. If those posting here are close to losing their orders because of idle trade-ins or bank loans - then I am sure Tesla knows this. Why the online inventory went from "some" cars in the first week in October in many locations to "zero" overnight is also strange.

I'm sorry to hear all the stories from people who are relying on Trade-in value or loan date terms to obtain their cars. I hope Tesla gets cars to you on time so that you don't have to lose out now.

So I was looking at the tracking spread sheet, there's a guy in Florrida that placed his order on Oct 9th, got his VIN on Oct. 15th, & taking delivery on Oct. 24th! WTF!!! How did he get it so fast while I'm here in SoCal still waiting on a VIN that I placed my order on Oct. 1st!
We should ask him! Maybe they had something on hand? Looks like October VINs are back though... good sign I think.

What is more frustrating is that I ordered on the 3rd with the same build except for FSD! I don’t even have a VIN.

I noticed there was also another LR AWD build with FSD that now has a vin and delivery date. Seems cars configured with FSD are being prioritized?

For what it is worth the Oct 4th build that car that my OA was able to match me to also had FSD on it originally. I don't know if it is a coincidence but it would make sense to push cars with FSD since it is pure profit for Tesla. My OA was able to remove it from the car thus adjusting the price lower instantly...

Mehhh patience doesn't work well for me when money is involved lol
Had them switch me to an inventory model, they had only one LR AWD available in my color config (I initially ordered SR+) so I told them I'd take it. Got my VIN. Scheduled to pick up next week.

BTW, I financed through Tesla and my loan term expires after 30days so I would have been screwed if my original order delivered end of Oct or Nov..

I’m seriously considering calling a sales rep to see what they have available. Willing to pay a little extra rather than wait by Nov before my approved loan expires.

I spoke to a SF delivery manager today. He looked for me but found nothing. My config is nothing special either. He reiterated what I'd heard before - 1st week in December. My order was Oct 11th.

I can't imagine what he's doing other than listening to whiny customers like me. A scarce occasional delivery in San Francisco at best. It's going to be a loooong November and it's not even Halloween yet.

I’d suggest asking. The worse they can say is that none are available, atleast then you’d know what your options are (waiting, cancelling or paying the transport fee to pull inventory beyond 500 miles from you)
