North California - delivery time

Thanks, I am planning to purchase the Tesla insurance, because it is the cheapest one I have quoted. However, I just cannot finish my purchase because I don't have a pickup date-.- so I am dropping into this dead loop, haha. Let me see if I could find cheaper insurance and upload the proof asap. Thanks for your info, very helpful.
You are welcome! YMMV but the tesla insurance quote i initially received was 50% more expensive than the Geico one I ended up going with (could be due to the fact that with Geico, I was bundling with my wife's current insurance). Since you have a little time before pick-up, make sure you shop around! And doesn't hurt to give your local SA a call and give them a little nudge by asking if there is any outstanding item you need to complete to receive a pick-up confirmation. The end is in sight though!

I received a call from Tesla today 3/23/2022 at 2 PM (PST) asking the below questions

1- Are you ready to take the delivery in a week or two? (yes)
2- Do you have any trade-in (no)
3- Where are you planning to get your insurance (need to find quotes- any suggestion fellow forum members?)
4- Cash or Finance options (finance)

I am not sure what does this means, after the call, I went to my account and I see nothing changed. Anxiously waiting for the last six months, because I need a car.
I received the same call a couple days before receiving my VIN - should be a good sign! Nothing changed immediately after the call, but it should indicate they are lining you up with a car.

Well, it is Wednesday and my MY is ready and I will pick it up at 4:30 pm today. Will post an account of my experience.
I finally got my MY!!! The process was pretty smooth - even though they were very busy delivering vehicles. I saw three other white MYs while I was there as well as a black MY, an MSM M3 and others in the delivery processes. Spent some time with the delivery specialist going over the UI and I am sure I need to go over it more to get it down. I spent quite a bit of time going over the check list but only found 2 very minor items - the frunk is not quite centered and the gap at the back of the glass roof is wider than the front gap. Otherwise the car is beautiful. After I gave them the cashier's check and was told that it had been accepted, we tried to continue through the app but somehow the payment wasn't showing having been received so we had to wait til that worked. In the meantime we went over the UI and dealt with my questions. The whole process took about 1.5 hours with the payment glitch taking some time as well as both of us being interrupted with phone calls. My overall assessment of the process was very positive. I tried to not let my excitement rush me through the checklist and nobody tried to rush me. I hope the photo does some justice to my baby!

Does anyone know how far out you can schedule vehicle pickup once you've been notified?

I'm waiting for my auto loan check to come in the mail (5-7 business days) but if Tesla tells me my car is ready and to pick it up tomorrow then I won't have payment.

I think it depends where you are. East coasters find out their VIN long before delivery. But in my case, I received a VIN on Monday and then a text on Tuesday that it was ready to pick up. That happened because I live near the factory and probably also because it is EOQ and they are trying to move cars as fast as possible. I ended up picking up today (Wednesday) rather than yesterday because didn’t respond quickly enough to their Tuesday text.

Did they give you a deadline to pick up the car? I was given a VIN on Monday and live about 20 minutes from the Fremont factory. However I haven't received a text for scheduling delivery/pickup.

No deadline. I received a VIN on Monday evening, then a text from Tesla Sunnyvale on Tuesday at about 2:30 saying they had my car and to text YES if I wanted to pick it up “today”. No mention of a deadline. I didn’t see the text until after 4, but did text back YES and immediately headed to my credit union to complete payment. The next text I received said they couldn’t finish detailing the car in time, but to text back a time on Wednesday for pickup. Again no mention of a deadline but I didn’t ask because I wanted my car NOW. I called Tesla Sunnyvale and made an appointment at noon Wednesday, which showed up almost immediately in the app. The rest is history.

That is my case as a NorCal person as well. The timeline from notification, to vin, to delivery appointment is uncomfortably fast. Basically text to accept Friday, vin sat evening with options to schedule tues-thurs the following week.
