I took delivery this week at the Costa Mesa Service Center. My delivery specialist was Drew, and he was great.
Since I had previously arranged home delivery and that is no longer available in my area, they arranged for a car service to pick me up and take me in for my appointment. The walk through was very thorough. It took about 30-40 minutes and we ended up going through just about everything on my delivery checklist. I was looking for certain things, and Drew was patient and indulged me as I checked panel gaps, etc.
The car itself was better than expected! The interior combination looked better than I had imagined (having not seen this combo in person). The color of the leather was also more creamy than I had remembered from TM events I had attended. The panel gaps were excellent (I think this is partly because the car was obviously on the line AFTER the big March push and the week-long refresh of the assembly line). The UI/control scheme is also better than I remember, and a huge advancement compared to what I have seen in other cars.
The only negative so far is the control screen can be a bit sluggish when queuing up a bunch of things (i.e. adjust the roof, changing stations, refreshing the map) at the same time. I can't tell if it's the OS, the UI, the underpowered Tegra chip, or the 3G that's bogging it down. It's very sluggish compared to my phone of today (Galaxy Note 2) which makes me wonder how frustrated I'll be in 2 to 3 years when something 10x more powerful in my pocket.
Some very minor things: 1) Slacker seems a bit buggy. 2) browsing through music needs a "back" or "up" button.
But I won't dwell any more on these minor issues. Overall, it's been overwhelmingly positive! Not just for me, but for my friends and neighbors. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more around the neighborhood in a few months.
