    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

We need to move beyond yellow cards. Unlike our old friend Bruce, I can’t hand out red cards or threaten to kick folks out of the sandbox. That said, there’s tomfoolery afoot here. Rest assured, you don’t want to wake Bruce. You were warned.

This “software hold” happened with the Ys last quarter and it was not fun. Tesla doesn’t hold cars for typical software updates - they can do OTA anytime. Last quarter with the Y it was for updates related to homologation (specifically the TV radar less cars). For us S folks, I hope they’re...

Because cheap electric rates don’t correlate to tax credits and most folks aren’t buying $50,000+ cars which, in reality, is the cost of a new Tesla most of the time. Sucks but true.

MD, sadly, is mainly a coal state, so it’s cheap, but really bad for the planet and I don’t have the luxury of paying for what I believe in or else I’d get solar. I do drive only EVs except for one - which I could replace if Tesla were willing to ever deliver my S! :)

I don’t know where you all live, but in MD, the payback is more like 15+ years. My roof faces south - ideal. I’d put in a geothermal HVAC before I’d do solar in MD.

I got the same thing, but you’d still net $5k if you dropped FSD. Personally, as someone who has FSD on my vision only Y, it’s pretty worthless with Tesla Vision unless/until they ever release the “city” version. Which I don’t see happening for a long time regardless of what Uncle Elon says...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I almost did a dumb thing and changed my order to remove FSD. Which would’ve likely delayed me past even September. Then I realized, I can wait until I get closer to delivery and cancel it. I have it on my Y at $10,000, with the subscription, and no way city FSD rolls out any time soon (ie my...

As someone who bought FSD and ended up with no radar for $10,000, it does suck that I could’ve paid $199/month for a subscription when I need it. I believe it will be a long time before city FSD is out. Oh well, not the first time I’ve lost money by being an early adopter.

Are we really going to have an argument about sensibility on a thread where people are spending $100,000+ on a car? Come on now. People like options. If you don’t want white seats, don’t buy them.

What about my Semi reservation? When is that coming? I don’t have an EDD for that. I have to be able to tow my other Teslas in a covered trailer so they don’t get scratched or otherwise dinged while in motion.

Ceramic coating is not flexible when dry, is it? The kind used on cars chips off. You may have better luck using a sofa protector like my grandmother used to have. Kind of like sitting on a ziploc bag, but gotta keep the seats clean for the next owner. :-) Seriously, the car is meant to be...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Well, first I must point out your post is egregiously off topic as it’s about an existing Y and a potential X. Shame on you for clogging this otherwise pristine thread! Second, there’s no comparison between the X and Y anmore than the S and 3. Whether it’s storage, speed, actual SUV size and...

Should I upgrade from my '21 Model X

Only $5k more if you didn’t have a reservation before the increase. Just wanted to clarify that. I am upgrading from a 2016 AP 1.0 X. There’s a 0% chance I’d upgrade from an X with AP 3.0, regardless of year. Just not enough real features. It’s largely “just” a different interior.

Estimated Delivery September. Still. Just trying to do my part to stay on topic. As an aside, if you read that guy’s complaint, it sounds like a “don’t buy it if you don’t like it” response would be appropriate. It’s not like the yoke was a surprise…

I was on vacation for a couple of weeks. The struggle is real with respect to keeping up here! I am not jumping ship @Tigers and appreciate the call out! Getting my Y as a “bridge” car distracted me for a bit, but I want my S and my X. Glad to see the crew still frothy as ever and the the...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

Beta testers only. Aside from not being ready, I think local laws may delay a broad release. Remember, there are people who paid for FSD in 2017 or 2018. It’s not coming soon for broad release. And by “it” I mean the FSD able to drive you to your local Starbucks, etc.

I will say my no radar Y rarely shows cyclists or pedestrians. My radar X is MUCH better at that. Even when someone stands right in front of the car, the Y takes a long time to show them. Very unsettling.

Because I am not a YouTuber and am not going to record, edit and post. Tesla knows about the issue. I don’t see it as my responsibility to put myself in harm’s way to record for folks online. I just don’t use it if there are no cars around. For me, phantom braking only occurs when there are...

Okay, just did 160 mile highway trip at dusk. Definitely phantomn braking twice. I say “phantom” but I know (I think) that my Y with no radar saw the highway signs above the highway as it came up over a small hill and twice went from 60 to about 43mph very fast. The third time it was an...

I don’t disagree at all. As an example, the ultrasonic sensors around the car are fine at low speeds, but they’re poor tech for higher speeds and generally just not great. The idea is for the car to drive better than humans, and with 8 “eyes”, it can, but let’s remember not even massive jets...

I am on .10 but had not gone through all the settings yet. Thanks for the update. Personally, I don’t mind AHB being required (when possible) for TV at night. AHB has always worked well for me and it makes sense that it needs to “see” at night. As others have said, if it was pitch black with...

You’ll lose a lot of good info (and people) if you do that. Typically, there isn’t a new thread for every quarter. That would be super confusing. Checked today @casey1202 and dash am is working as expected. So is Sentry Mode now! I did the update to .10 this morning. Using a Samsung T7 500gb SSD mainly to protect against the zillion overwrites that will kill the usb flash drive Tesla provides.

You need to open one of the front windows a crack. I don’t have any rattling, but it sounds like I am in a chopper when I only open the back windows for my dog. When I crack a front one as well, air flow is smooth and all is good. FWIW, happens in my X and old Audi too.

I wouldn’t call myself a fanboy, to be honest. I have had several Teslas, but I am happy to call Tesla out when they *sugar* the bed and they made me go through two “almost yours” Ys before I got my actual Y. What’s most noticeable about the boost is less the acceleration from a stop, than...

2021 model Y scan my Tesla battery size

Dumb question. Don’t all these third party apps need your username and password to get the info from your car? NFW I am giving that info to some random app… but, I appreciate the info shared from people who feel comfortable inputting that info into a 3rd party app.

I don’t disagree, but had two events today where cars cut me off while I was in AP and the car slowed, but didn’t jam the brakes. The reason other manufacturers have more reliable wiper sensors and TACC is they use purpose built tech. Tesla is, to some degree, using vision AI when a $5 sensor would detect rain - so a hammer for a thumbtack or whatever folks say. Not an apologist, but they do call most of these features...

It has to “read” it’s environment rather than following traffic and, specifically, the car ahead of it. On an open highway, it will cruise at your set speed and then just suddenly slow considerably because it “sees” something OR because it doesn’t see something and, therefore, is more...

Auto Steer is excellent for me, actually and if there are cars around, TACC seems to work well. Wipers work fine in rain, etc. For me, it’s just phantom braking that seems a lot worse than ever, but I am sure they will continue to refine it. I am amazed TACC works at all with no radar. To my...

    Sentry mode not recording events

That would make sense if Sentry was new, but it’s been in the cars for 3 years or so detecting motion, etc and yes, it does have plenty of false positives, but better that than to miss an event. They’ll fix it.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

This are the Gemini rims under the caps on the 3 and Y. I do not think they’re going to put the same Gemini rims on the S as they do the 3 and Y. For as strange as Tesla is, they DO try to differentiate between their more premium cars and the “entry level” ones.
