PEI Election

Yes, I know it's only PEI, with a population 1/3 the size of Vancouver, but this is still kinda cool. Polls are projecting a tight 3 way race in today's provincial election with the Green Party on top of the polls. Polls are super unreliable tho as it's PEI, so few polls and high variability in the polls that have been done due to low sample size and dispersed population.

A new vote projection points to a historic Green win in P.E.I. - Macleans.ca

Still super interesting tho if we manage to get a Green Party premier.

I wanna see Quebec next. They change political parties like most ppl change their shirts, they're due for a Green wave.

CAQ is in power no?

Ontario is due also after this PC run on climate change.

I can see the NDP taking it in three years with the Greens backing up and PCs and Libs splitting the rest for a minority government. No way in hell will Ford get another four years.

Yeah, CAQ is their latest tee. it's a green dip dye tee, and in ladies it comes in an off the shoulder version. CAQ will be out next election or two, and they'll be onto the next thing. :p

I can see Ford sticking around for a bit, ppl are still super pissed at the Libs... and the NDP... I just don't see it. Too many conservative suburbs for them to get any traction. Same with Greens.

In another three years, there'll be a whole new generation of voters who hates PCs and Ford. I highly doubt it ;)

Or have been brainwashed by the SJWs and Teachers Unions

I grew up in the 90's and we had strikes every year due to cuts. Learning about why the occur pretty much sealed the deal for me that I'd never vote for the PCs. Anyone willing to cut back on education for the masses and reduce corporate taxes is not a friend of the people. Last I checked, democracy was about everyone having a voice.

PC minority government, with Greens coming in second.

Yeah a bit disappointed by this. But the Greens should pick up the byelection seat where the guy just died (people love dead martyrs), making the final totals 12-10-5. Will be interesting to see if the Libs decide to support the PC's, or if the PC's decide to give the Greens a few environmental nods in return for not bringing the government down. Not a bad situation for the PC's -- they get to decide if they want to give a nod to the Greens, who realistically won't ask for much, or the Libs, who are crazy weakened and not really in a position to ask for much.

I see Ford as having achieved the same number of people pissed as the Liberals did - but managed to do it in a year. Only more people will get pissed as his policies take effect and start to have impacts.

Let the Greens mature, get their full agenda published, get their butts out to meet and greet, and they may actually get votes from those who are disillusioned with all the entrenched parties (like me).

Do you see ppl in Kingston voting Green? How about Richmond Hill? Or Cambridge? Green Party in Ontario currently is an urban elite thing, they only succeeded in Guelph recently cause it's a student community with strong environmental programs at the U of G. I could see them picking up some of the NDP strength in the city core, but that'd be about it. More than that and they'd need some kind of green wave to emerge from somewhere.

As I said, it depends upon whether the Greens put out a fully scoped out agenda. If it does and it's plausible and acceptable I'm sure there's enough people who are fed up with the status quo from the Liberals, the PCs and the NDP who might just give them a chance. With this past Ontario election not one of the leaders were good enough to earn a vote from me - Ford is a pandering moron, Wynne just tried to buy votes and Horwath "I'm satisfied/not satisfied with the results of the previous election".

My inlaws in their mid-80's voted Green in Guelph and they are traditionally conservatives but yes, Guelph was the perfect storm. The city has a history of embracing green initiatives.

Well, Dufferin-Caledon has been a Conservative rural stronghold. But the incumbent Federal Conservative just "retired", and in the nomination of a new Con candidate was just overturned due to *irregularities*. The original winner told some untruths about his background, and papered the voting process with students, a la Patrick Brown

The Federal Green party candidate is a well known local businessman, with ties to the agricultural market. I know him.

I'm a card-carrying Con member, and I will vote for him. The Federal Liberals screwed small business owners (that's my biggest beef), Scheer is a clown, and the NDP are unorganized socialist thugs. The greens are pro small business. I think he has a shot, and there may be other ridings that have the same issues.
