SoCal owner here. Ordered my Model 3 Performance white/black with FSD on 4/14. Uploaded all the paperwork the same day. Received text notification on 5/8 for tentative delivery appointment on 5/11. Provided ACH info on 5/10 and took delivery on 5/11. So all in all, one day shy of 4 weeks.

Based on your order/delivery date they must have done a batch of white cars with black interior recently?

Hey everyone, if you recently took delivery of your model 3 go check your loot box/referral for your supercharger credit. Tesla has loaded them in there so you know how many miles you have left. However they have royally Screwed my entire account up. So I’m just warning you guys to go and check to make sure you got your 5k miles or whatever they owe you. Ordered on the 4/29/19 and was supposed to get 5k but they gave 1k so please guys check

Hello all, new member here. Just put an order in on Friday (5/10) for a Model 3 Performance in solid black, white interior, full FSD. I have a question about the process: do I need all information to be fully completed in my account before Tesla will attempt to match me to a car? The way my salesperson talked, it sounded like I don't need to enter all that info until prior to 24 hours before delivery. Reason I'm asking is that I'm closing on a vacation property this coming Friday (5/17), and I cant have anything touch my credit until after then. My salesperson said that it was best to put order in right away so I could potentially claim the 5k supercharger miles that requires delivery by he 28th. Bottom line - am I holding myself up not putting the financing info in now? Not much I can do about in any event, I suppose, but it's nice to know at least how long I'll be waiting. Thanks in advance.

All things being equal, same order date and configuration, the person with registration, financing completed and approved should get matched before one that doesn’t.
Same is true if you applied for financing or lease and we’re turned down.
As an FYI there were 18 cars meeting your configuration released to inventory this weekend.
You can check them at ev-cpo.com. Two are factory configured with FSD though it can always be added on.
One in Orlando and one in Chicago

I never got the feeling they would hold up matching a car if your entry wasn’t complete. I think I’ve seen people told they should wait to apply for a loan until they get a delivery date because the approval often only lasts 30 days and some people have had to wait longer than that between order and delivery.

Thank you for the responses. I'm a little stunned because I just logged into my Tesla account again and found a VIN and delivery appointment date for this Friday, May 17. Much faster than I expected - order 5/10, receive VIN date 5/12, delivery 5/17. Guess I have a common build... They never sent me an email or anything though, which really shocks me. It also lists my delivery appointment at my home address, but when the salesperson helped me put in my order the system said they were not doing home deliveries in my area, despite the fact that I'm pretty close to Baltimore and DC. Does that mean they will deliver to me, or not?

Also, what do I do in the event that I can't make the delivery on the 17th? Can I request the following day?

Sorry for all the questions, but this is the first time I've been this confused buying a car, and to be honest I'm not 100% confident I believe everything my salesperson was telling me.

Also - and I sincerely apologize for the double post, but after 10 minutes of searching, I can't figure out how to edit my post - how do I know if I'm getting a 2019 car or 2018? I see a lot of folks posting here saying they're getting offered a 2018 car, but the Tesla website doesn't specify. Thanks again.

To check the year, look at the VIN. If the 10th character is J it’s 2018, K is 2019.

Usually the delivery dept is different that the sales dept. I’d call your local center and talk to someone in delivery. They can answer the questions about home delivery and changing the date/time and etc. What shows on the Web site isn’t always correct as far as home vs. center delivery, so it’s worth confirming. (And you can move the date back as much as a week I think; more and they’ll release the car and put you back in line.)

Ordered 3/17. White interior, Blue color. FSD. Southern IL.
No VIN.
Every time I ask I get "We'll let you know when a VIN is assigned"
They really need to modify the 2 week estimated ship date from the website. or have a more communicative delivery rep.

Until you talk to a delivery specialist assume all the information you see in your account is not correct. That information is auto generated by Tesla.

For instance my delivery date was scheduled for 5/4. The car isn't scheduled to make it to my service center until Monday 5/13. When I called and asked about it they were like "yeah that is automated" and implied not correct.

In fact I had to call numerous times to get everything I needed to prepare for pickup (no one answers the phone so repetitive calling is required). No one ever reached out to me until a couple days ago likely because the car was too far away from the service center even though I already had a delivery date in the app that came and went.

This is by far the worst car buying experience I've ever had. Communication is terrible and Tesla sending out wrong information with overpromise and under delivering estimates makes it worse. I didn't expect my car until June and was ok with that. I've had to reschedule three times now due to bad information. I have to travel out of state for pickup so it's not as simple for me as picking up the car after work. Just give me accurate information so I can plan accordingly. Seems simple to me.

That's weird because some blue/white P3Ds were delivered in the last week or two. There's even one in inventory in Seattle. Maybe it's worth asking if they can ship that one to you?

I totally agree about the poor communication, in any case.

Update, got the car this past Saturday. Overall amazing. Driving it is incredible. A few factory stickers left on various parts of the car, no big deal. 3 minor issues. Passenger side of the rear wing lifted off car slightly. A drop of glue on the rear roof window, drivers side and the chrome trim on the passengers side has a noticeable gap. Detail job was crap, obviously rushed, but again, not a huge deal.

Ouch. Seeing this already. Reached out to delivery specialist today and got voicemail. Natch. Thanks for the heads up, guess I'll try to ride herd on them to see if that gets me anywhere.

Passenger side of my car I picked up 11 days ago has the same gap. I don’t want to imagine what it would take to fix it so I let it go. It’s not a big deal.

Repetitive calling seems to work best. I find early afternoon to be more successful vs mornings or late afternoon. Don't bother leaving a voicemail. I've yet to be called back from leaving messages.

When I mentioned trying to get ahold of someone at the SC the last person I talked to acknowledged it can be difficult. She said they don't have people staffed to handle the volume of calls that come in and it can be difficult.

Thanks for the tip. Tried calling at least 6 times throughout the day today and never got anything but a voicemail. In the afternoon it didn't even ring a few times, THEN go to voicemail, just went straight there. Ugh.

Well, tomorrow I'll start all over again.

I'm now easily able to tell why people say the order/delivery process is awful for this company, and I haven't been waiting without any word from Tesla for months like some have.

I did that. Actually had the opposite happen since I ordered prior to the promotion, but got 5k. I think maybe my OA added my promo late and ended up working in my favor.

Very possible. However after getting headquarters involved, things moved faster. These delivery centers, some not ALL, are horrible. They are lazy and just brush things off. Headquarters said, everything they said is wrong and why they should have done it. Add autopilot to my car as it’s included. They did directly from HQ engineering And the updated firmware download and bam it was done. They were upset that the delivery center gave such poor service. So they can do right it’s just the people that should do things are doing them because of piss poor management. But hope it all works out for you
