At the same time, we see these reports of cars available in the wild... which is to say, out West. I’m in Philly so every time I mention to a Tesla person that I hear there are cars waiting on lots in Las Vegas or Portland or Fremont or whatever, they don’t reply or change the subject.
Someone asserted that all the early quarter production was headed overseas, and then someone else countered firmly that current factory production was for North America. I don’t know where either of those assertions come from.
Here’s an idea: given a couple days, I’m sure some programmer could interface with Tesla’s logistics system and make it email a daily update to everyone who’s got a pending order. ‘We built 100 cars today but they didn’t match yours. Hang in there!’ ‘We did a batch like yours but there were 300 orders ahead of you. Two more batches and we’ll send one your way.’ It would take so little and make so many people happier.
