The TOCEVA Racing 2019 model 3P has departed Perth and is expected in Sydney with 80 other vehicles on Sunday 6/11. The 5700km route consists of large sections of gravel and sand, much of which will deteriorate very quickly with a short burst of rain.

TOCEVA's challenge in the Perth to Sydney Marathon, as the only EV in the field, has got off to a good start having just arrived in Norseman.

TOCEVA has been sponsored by AmpCharge (the energy company), TOCA, TOCWA and AEVA amongst others.

We have a fleet of mobile DC chargers capable of delivering up to 100kW in the bush, some powered by waste vegie oil generators on trucks and some by a 125kWh battery van. Ampol are offsetting all the diesel they supply for the actual trucks, so our whole trip is as near to carbon neutral as possible.

We be passing through Port Augusta at midday on 1st November (check with David Cann), Broken Hill overnight on 2nd November, Wangaratta on 3rd November, Lakes Entrance on 4th November, Cooma on 5th November (Cooma Car show), and finally Warwick Farm on 6th November.

Good to see a Tesla competing and showing they can handle trickier roads, but it mostly seems to be an older car rally.

Only 5 cars built from 2000 onwards from the entry list, and most of those big 4WDs.

Yes I think anything raising awareness that EVs can cross the city limits and do trips like this is a good thing.

Most driving is on the old gravel and sand roads rather than the sealed highway, the aero covers would be missing by now.

Two tyres blown out and we have fitted our spares. Any ideas for some 225/50R 18 95H in Ceduna, Kimba etc. If necessary from Adelaide or Port Augusta.

Day 7 of the Marathon tomorrow is one of the longest from Broken Hill to Wangaratta, and has just been made longer by diversions to avoid the floods - now 953 kms and at least 2 hours of DC charging.
10 cars have dropped out of the rally, but our rally Tesla is going strong, together with the BiØfil chargers and BattVan (125kWh battery) support crew.
