Welp. Stumbled into this thread today. Have the same issue. Cubby light seems to always be on. And the deep console is only on when the cubby is presented and the cup holders retracted. If it just the deep console, it is pitch black.
You can call sales for the built day informationSame problem here. Light’s On when deep cubby closed, off when it’s opened. Took delivery of my SP on 12/12.
By the way how do to know when your car was built, down to the day?
If you dont mind, what is your vin. The service team believes there is no light.Same
What?! That makes no sense. If it lights up incorrectly, there is a bulb and a light. That is a idiotic diagnosis. If you dont mind, what is your vin. The service team believes there is no light.
I videod under the console area and I do not see a light. They said there are two lights. One in the back bin under the arm rest and one on the pillar at the very top pf the console right at the back of the upper tray. What?! That makes no sense. If it lights up incorrectly, there is a bulb and a light. That is a idiotic diagnosis.
Well that is confusing. So the armrest one is turning on when the shallow cubby is open? But turns off when the shallow cubby is retracted showing the deep console? That seems...backwards? And if it is not armrest light turning on into the deep console, what light is coming on?I videod under the console area and I do not see a light. They said there are two lights. Ok. They are wrong. I found the lights. They are two led strips located under the lower track on the left and right side. I sent the info to the service center. Amazing that they dont know the cars they work on.Well that is confusing. So the armrest one is turning on when the shallow cubby is open? Unless I am missing / not understanding something.
My Model S LR delivered in Dec behaves the same way, lower light turns off when fully open, and turns on when partially closed. Seemed backward, did SC ever resolve?I noticed in my new Model S Plaid the center console light turns off if you fully open the sliding lid.
Is this expected behavior? Intuitively the light should turn off when the lid is fully closed, and light should turn on when half-closed or fully opened

Parts catalog shows two "FUNCTIONAL LAMPs", #14 and #15: Parts CatalogThey dont know how to fix it that I have seen. The people I am dealing with didnt even know the lights existed. I cant find the parts catalog online at the typical tesla site but maybe @omarsultan can point us to it.
But no light strips on the sides? Does this mean the “lights” I observe on the undersides of the tracks are reflectors or Fiber optic? Not sure what to make of this diagram.
Not sure as all this is hard to see. It's like verifying the light is off in the refrigerator when the door closes. But no light strips on the sides? Does this mean the “lights” I observe on the undersides of the tracks are reflectors or Fiber optic? Not sure what to make of this diagram.
