The commercial units are scalable from 100kW to 10MW. Tesla is easily going to meet the capacity of the gigafactory I think.

But that's usually for output not storage - e.g. as long as the pack can generate power of 2kw continuous/3kw peak, prob still considered operable/not defective... isn't this the same sort of coverage with the MS battery pack? Power output not energy storage capacity?

This pack re-uses the liquid cooled management of the car. Keeping batteries in their happy range of temp and charge extends the lifetime. Cars commuting can keep in a narrow range further improving life. This application however should commonly charge/discharge more deeply so it won't have that going for it.
