Purchase in CO, Take Delivery in CA - Double Sales Tax?

I am currently a resident of Highlands Ranch, CO, a bit south of Denver. After readying some posts dealing with paying double sales tax I wanted to see if anyone had any first hand knowledge of purchasing a Tesla here in Colorado but flying to California, taking delivery and subsequently getting a tour of the factory? Obviously if I have to pay both sales tax in California AND Colorado, I’ll pass and just wait for them to bring the Model 3 to me, but if not, I’ll definitely take delivery in CA. Thanks for any advice in advance!

I believe you'll have to pay sales tax in CA, then you can get credit for it when you register in CO...however, if the sales tax is higher in CA, you won't get refunded for the difference.

There also seems to be evidence that Model 3 buyers won't be able to book a tour for now. If you already own an S/X you can book one though.

Double tax. I don't think Colorado offers any credit, either.

Sounds like you're better off calling your DMV and asking them yourself. Double taxation on a Model 3 purchase isn't worth taking delivery in Fremont.
