Rear Spoiler Corroding & Pitting

Noticed some chipping on the bottom of my spoiler, upon further look I see the entire underside is corroding and pitting. I'm worried about this affecting my spoiler lights in the future. On Tesla Forums I find other MX owners experiencing this problem and stating there’s a 12 year rust warranty on the car that covered this repair.

After contacting SC, they say it is my responsibility as they aren’t honoring corrosion warranty on cars before Feb 1, 2019. Anyone dealt with this? I have ‘16 MX 75D for specs.

I have the same issue. Tried for years to get Tesla to fix it but they always refused.

There allegedly used to be a corrosion warranty but Tesla told me a panel had to be rusted all the way through for it to qualify. I’ve never seen the warranty, or don’t remember seeing it.

Anyway, the aluminum seems to be holding up well and only I notice it so I stopped worrying about it.

Given that your vehicle falls outside of the corrosion warranty coverage provided by Tesla, it may be necessary to explore other options for addressing the issue. Here are a few steps you could consider:

Document the Damage: Take clear photos of the corrosion and any damage to the spoiler lights. This documentation can be useful if you decide to pursue repairs or replacements independently.
  1. Seek Independent Inspection and Repair: Consider consulting with independent automotive repair shops or specialists who have experience with Tesla vehicles. They may be able to assess the extent of the corrosion damage and provide recommendations for repair or restoration.
  2. Contact Tesla Customer Support: While Tesla's stance on warranty coverage may be disappointing, it's worth reaching out to their customer support team again to express your concerns and seek further clarification. Sometimes, persistence and polite negotiation can lead to a resolution.
  3. Explore Aftermarket Options: If repairing the existing spoiler proves to be challenging or costly, you could explore aftermarket spoiler options that are designed to resist corrosion and offer improved durability.
One potential solution could be to consider replacing the corroded spoiler with a new one. Tesery offers high-quality spoiler options that may be worth considering as replacements. Tesery carbon fiber spoilers are designed to be durable and resistant to corrosion, offering both aesthetic appeal and peace of mind.

They are correct. Current cars have the corrosion warranty, but it didn't exist in 2016. This was proven in some other thread where this was discussed earlier..

On the other hand, 2016 cars have unlimited mileage battery warranty, when newer cars have only 150000 miles or 240000km. No one is trying to change to the newer terms in this warranty, 2016 version is fine.. :)
