Rear Windshield Glass Trim Missing?

Glad to have come across this forum as I have the same concerns with my 2021 Model 3 just delivered in Aug. Not great design

for debris concerns stated above but happy not to have to bring in to service center. Thanks.

This was discussed in the master thread and there's a pretty cheap solution to make this area look better. Here's the link to one of the posts but if you look around during that time period there are others. Master thread: Delivery issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / problems etc)

Probably not too hard to fix a bit of trim to close the gap and go up and down with the boot lid.

Have the same feature with my 2021 SR+. Thank you all for confirming that this is by design- funny though it is..

Will cancel my service appointment that i set up to look into this!

Glad I googled this and found this “feature”! This was my biggest issue and it appears to be standard on the strut side.

22 M3 Gap on left side of trunk looks like its missing rubber lining. Svc says it's to accommodate power strut. Water runs through the channel and drains rear bumper. Just wanted to see if others noticed/have same "within spec" gap. Thx all.

It's not actually a weatherstrip - it's just a cosmetic gap concealer. If you look at the other side you'll see that it doesn't actually seal against anything or redirect the water anywhere else.

Some line manager apparently noticed that the updated power strut *almost* touches the rubber strip and concluded that it would be better to crudely hack off a foot of it, leaving an unsightly gap, than to take the risk of the strut possibly almost gently touching the edge of the rubber. They also install the rear windows a little off-center to be extra sure.
