They’ll add it the day you take delivery. it’s the tesla way.
So now, my X will be delivered with no seats in the back at all, no wheels, no headlights, no USB ports... But I will still be happy to accept delivery!!

Of course, I will give them great praise on the post delivery survey!! it’s the tesla way.

Tesla's priorities are ****ed up. How are they unable to build 5/7 seaters of any trim yet they're showing one off in Taiwan?

Based on the shininess of the plastic surrounding the charging port I think this isn't a production build but rather a prototype/engineering/test build. A final build would have a plastic that's more similar to the one we see in Model 3/Y.

So I need to take some sort of tiny screwdriver with me when I pick up the car? Phillips or straight? Seems like the Service Center should do this..what else do those sales reps have to do? What’s a ”delivery specialist” do? Hand you a key fob that isn’t working and say, “good luck, thanks for $115K?” You know, we aren’t all tech savvy handy men. We include old, dull, people who try hard but just can’t seem to make technology work. BTW, thanks for the tip on this DYI project. I’ll add it to the hard copy folder I keep for when I finally, eventually get my car.
In my case it'd have been "...thanks for $156K..." but yes. The physical key fobs are actually auxiliary. The key *card* is what you use to access the car for the first time, and to start it (just like M3, MY). The key *card* is also used to pair your phone so it can also be used as a car key, and is also used to pair the key fobs to the car. All life revolves around the key *card* -- and you'll receive two of those with your delivery. Most people pick up the car and drive off using their card or phone, then run into trouble later when trying to pair the fobs.

Since I was a previous MX owner, I still had the little doohickey they provided with they key fobs for that car, and was able to use it to pry open the back of the key fobs for my new MX. The tool is not unlike the little SIM tray removal tool Apple ships with iPhones, but yes, a flathead precision screwdriver will also do the trick.

I got a vin 12/29/21, completed all the steps needed. Was told X was gonna arrive on the 1st but nothing, then I got a text saying that my X was on the way to my delivery center. Got scheduled a 1/9/22 delivery day. Then they called me 1/8/22 to tell me my car hasn’t moved and pushed me to 1/13/22. I called this morning and it still hasn’t moved, apparently there’s a transportation shortage. 😕
We'll add transportation shortage to the list of humorous excuses SAs come up with! Not a shot at you @ed.vz , its just a different story every day.
  • Transpiration shortage
  • Chip shortage
  • Seat shortage
  • 22" rim shortage
  • Motor shortage
  • ..what else am I missing?
But don't worry no shortages or issues producing / delivering the M3/MY..

I would love to see the training these SAs go through.

An excerpt from the Tesla Service Advisor Training Manual:
Tesla Service Advisor Training Manual Page. 841
Scenario: Customer inquires on status of their Tesla reservation.
Response: Literally whatever comes to mind. If it sounds remotely possible, that's actually what's going on. The customer should probably buy into it.

LOL, sad but probably true to some extent.

Do any of you ever worry about the feeling of disappointment/being underwhelmed once the car is delivered after so much anticipation? I check this forum and refresh my app many times a day to see what's the latest, but I feel almost as though I'm getting myself too hyped-up and excited which might take away some of the fun once I actually receive the car (it'll be my first Tesla). I liken it to the feeling I always got in medical school... before any major exam I was always so excited to finally be done with the exam and expected that feeling to be pure happiness; however, once I was finished with an exam I always felt a little underwhelmed, like "meh this isn't that exciting of a feeling as I expected". IDK maybe I'm odd?
If it's your first EV, you will have a lot of fun learning about and driving the car, planning trips, etc. The manual is interesting to read and trying out all of the settings will be fun (but be careful w/ AP, it will try to kill you). You will also enjoy "Tesla Time" where people will ask you all kinds of questions about your car and EVs (though they are probably pretty common in Chicago so may not attract as much attention as they do here). The acceleration will continue to impress. Not just "off the line", but when you're traveling at say 25mph and turn left onto an onramp and step on it. Every other car (even the most expensive Porsche, Ferrari, etc) will be in the wrong gear and there will be this incredible delay as the transmission shifts down 3 gears, revs come up, turbos spool up, then the power hits. With an EV it is telepathic. As soon as your brain commands a change in power, the car responds. I have been driving EVs since 2010 and it still makes me smile.

That being said it is also like a drug in that over time you build up a tolerance and need more and more. Hence my moves from Roadster to MSP to now Plaid X (this may also say something about my increasing age and growing family ;) ).

I just hope that the build quality is outstanding and you don't have any issues. Our last Tesla purchase was in 2018 and it was a service loaner. It has been great (any teething issues it had were sorted in those 1,500 miles). I hope my X is also well built. Sadly it's a roll of the dice these days.

I now feel like a chump with only a bachelors and 3 masters. I wanna be called Doctor too, damn it! PhD is in my future now. I always joked with my siblings that once I accomplished 3 Masters Programs, that my title would become Supreme Master which sounds WAY better than Doctor. But a PhD is something I always planned on doing as I want to teach at a university as a retirement job.
Sadly the recent tone in society is deleting the word "Master" due to its limited usage in Slavery. My job title as a Scrum Master has been changed to Scrum Expert. My Master Bedroom is now Main Bedroom. So soon you'll be re-defined and have to say "I accomplished 3 Masters Expert Programs"
I am sure even Tesla will not be immune.. Master of Coin will become Coin Expert.

We will see...

After launching in @janthony6 ’s Plaid X, I have zero concern about this.
