Roadster Loaner

Had to drop my Model S off at the Chicago center to address an alignment and suspension issue. I requested a rental car, and I thought I'd get another Camry or something similar. They gave me a Roadster!

That's a totally different ride! When they're ready to return my car tomorrow, it may be "inconvenient" for me to pick it up at least until next Monday! j/j

That is why I'll be keeping mine even after the model S has been delivered. Can't always wait to get lucky on a loaner.

I don't think so. In the trunk was a UMC with a NEMA 14-50 plug adapter. There looked like there was a NEMA 5-15 and a J1772 adapter. But, I really wasn't looking beyond the UMC with NEMA 14-50.

I may have been the first one to get a loaner car in Chicago. Perhaps they hadn't planned to loan out the Roadster. It's been fun to drive. I quick detailed it, vacuumed the car and restored some of the trim. Made for good photos with the family!

I had the swap the other way a few weeks back and really enjoyed the Model S, for all the reasons it is different. And then I got my Roadster back and it felt new all over again.

While there are many questions about Roadster mods/upgrades, the loaner aspect of the service experience is not one of them. Very cool stuff.

I had a Roadster loaner in Boston yesterday which was a blast. My kids loved it - 4 year old youngest daughter sat inside in the driveway for 20 minutes afterwards, refusing to get out! (She was on a booster seat and yes I know there is no airbag shutoff but it was a brief ride on local roads). A blast, but a bit impractical with 5 kids.

Then the service center told me repairs would take another day (needed the glass specialist to replace a Pano rubber seal), so they gave me a white hardtop P85 to use today. After a day at street level in the Roadster it felt like I was floating above the road on a pillow. Amazing acceleration, but I missed the Pano and I love my blue. Frankly the P is almost too much - so quick it's scary.

Nice to experience nearly the full range of Tesla vehicles during warranty service - a real perk of being a Tesla owner.

Love the "driveway moment." My 2-year old also loves to sit in my Roadster and "drive." He's also been around the neighborhood a few times. Should look into a manual airbag shut-off.

Recently bought a green Roadster, and brought it in for some fixes. Service center gave me a red loaner so I wouldn't have to hang around all day, but things have turned out to be a little more involved than was expected and involved ordering parts so I've gotten to keep it for a while. Loaner had an AC issue, so I got to swap for a blue one. I've got folks at work wondering just how many of these I own, lol. But it's been awesome to get to try out several of these vehicles for comparison, and really have to applaud Tesla's service and loaner policies. And I can definitely say that all three of my Roadsters this month have been incredible. If you ever get the chance, take it.

Tesla has managed to hit two home runs. I originally bought our Roadster thinking we'd sell it when we got our Model S. But there have turned out to be many things the Roadster does for me that the MS just can't do. And vice a versa. Maybe not as practical but it's quicker, more responsive, uses way less power, better for long trips where superchargers aren't available, easier to park, better winter handling. In short, I'm still in love and when we get our MS, it will have to share the garage with its older sibling for a long time. Thanks Kevin and Peter for your stories!
