Wash only means you adjust basis on new position instead of claiming loss this tax year. When you eventually close the position, everything evens up (if all in same account).

If you close the new position in the same year does it even up in the current year or next year?

This is horrible and a very traumatic experience. If the stock start to go up I can see tons of people getting out just because of the fear of the stock tanking again with the way Elon is behaving.

You can almost sell a 10% OTM call for 1 tesla share .

I am fairly certain that elon has been selling thursdsay friday and today. He probably used margin to finalize the twitter transactions and has been selling the past 3 trading days to close the margin. I'm sure we'll see forms 4 filed tonight

Only to the shareholders, and that schedule is whatever the shareholders and board agree to. I would presume at least annually, but probably quarterly.

But it won't be public info anymore. 100% private means we never know the inner dealings of Twitter anymore.

I believe the instant it went private, any filing requirements also aligned with being private. But time will tell.
