And that's by Tesla time. Of course he snarkily noted you don't need a configurator to select color. I suppose it can be delivered primed and then painted to taste at the Tesla Service centers. :)While patience is needed, it seems pretty obvious Musk either needs to clone himself or delegate a couple projects.

Weren't non-employee DELIVERIES supposed to happen this month? Now it seems possible the first non-employee/friend of Elon may not get a 3 this year?
 
Since at this stage the only non-software choices are colour and wheels they could simply run 50 red, 50 white, 50 blue etc and assign them to customer orders once they open the configurator up, and then once they know what the blance of orders in the first batch is going to be they can run however many they need to make up the balance in the correct colours.

This is a big possibility. They can just crank out a certain number of each color and assign wheels based on orders. For the next six months they could do this and just fill orders without a configurator.
