When I got my MS, they gave me a slacker account (log in ID and password). But I didn’t get one with M3. Do I need one?

Same here. I was told they are not handing out the slacker account details with the 3.

Do I need one?

Nope. They set it up before you get the car. The only thing you'd need a slacker account for is if, like me, you want to set up some custom stations.
