Software Update 2018.39.x (Version 9)

The CI is only accurate assuming this was a random sample. We know that this is not. This is a type 1 error. Ergo, can’t make inferences to population.

You can never have a 100% random survey when polling people as people always have the option to opt-in or opt-out for any survey. My guess is the two largest group of people that sign up for TeslaFi are the data geeks that love the info it provides and the business traveler that appreciate the reporting for tracking expenses. [Well, the largest group that signs up for TeslaFi are Tesla owners].

While not a 100% random sampling, there is no indication that the sampling frame would be different than the population.

If the updates were being push out 60% or even 70% to D models, I can chalk it up to an anomaly, however, 59 of the 67 Model 3s that upgraded from 36.2 to 39.7 have been Ds.

I took delivery of my MS this past June. Since then I have had four firmware updates (currently on 36.2). I have NEVER received a notification from the Tesla app on my phone (iOS) for any of these updates. Always first notice that an update is available when I get into the car. Seems like some people get the phone notification and others don't. BTW, add me to the list of people still waiting for the version 9 download.
Check your account settings on tesla.com. You can select your preferred method of contact (email, text, call), and pick any or all. That might make a difference if you are not receiving notifications.

(taken from another thread) If you look at this page:

Tesla Firmware Upgrade Tracker Web App

and click on "by model/VIN", you'll see that according to this tracker, 31 out of 76 Model 3 V9 updates today went to VINs <50,000, which are all RWD. Now we can start arguing over which tracker is more accurate. :p

I am guessing you didn't download their data:

It shows 29 M3 on 39.7. Only 5 of 29 actually non D. The 5 that are RWD, all have 39.6 installed on 10/8 or 10/9 and were upgraded to 39.7. I have a theory of why that happened but do not have proof to state. No RWD have upgraded according to ev-fw direct from 36.2 to 39.7.

No I did not (and don't know how to). How do you explain the difference between your count and their report on the web page? And why are there D cars in your list with very low VINs from a time when Tesla wasn't making Ds?

For some reason xxx on their download represents four digits (not 3). 09xxx is 090000s.

At the bottom of the screen you can download their data. I haven't been able to reconcile their table (nor tried). I don't trust their info as much as it mostly inputted manually vs. TeslaFi that gets it from the API.

My LR RWD updated to 39.6 three days ago and this morning updated to 39.7 so I don't think that is too accurate. It does seem to make a difference being on WiFi though. At least in my experience when I utilize the WiFi connection at home I seem to get updates much faster than waiting for a push over LTE.

Minor bug on 39.7. After playing Asteroids, FM radio wasn't playing any sound. Switched to Slacker which did play sound, then back to FM, which started playing sound again. I did notice a few speaker crackles when starting up the games. No doubt the ROM emulator left the sound chip in a funny state.

I pity the Tesla employees who need to respond to these inquiries...

Don't pity them, that's their job.

Tesla sends out an email to all owners instructing them to connect their cars to Wi-Fi to get the update "as soon as possible" and they don't send out the update for a week. When Apple launches a software update, people can install it on the same day if they connect to Wi-Fi. I didn't know what was "possible" for Tesla so I asked.

So the take-home message is "never say never". Without changing anything in my account settings, yesterday I got a notification on my phone that a software update was available (first time this happened). It was, of course, the latest iteration of V9 (39.7). Drove about 70 miles with it today and so far I like it a lot. Need more time driving tho to fully evaluate.

I guess if this is what you have to worry about all day your life must be pretty good. There is no conspiracy here, the updates are rolling out, you'll get them when you get them.

Hi everyone, I am a new Model owner, got my car about 6 weeks ago. I know Tesla released v9 update last week and they were gradually pushing it to the owners. However, as of today, I haven't received any notification or anything advising me that I can install v9 in my car. Now, I know that the car is supposed to have wi-fi connection and I made sure the signal is good in my garage. I've also clicked on Release Notes on my screen to make sure and there is no message there either. So my question is whether there are other people on here that have not received v9 update either? Should it take Tesla over a week to push it out to everyone? Thanks!
