Spare rear windscreen anyone? - Car bricked in Cardiff (literally)

I thought this would be worth posting for everyone to offer their sympathy. After just two weeks with the car I'd driven to Cardiff for the weekend only to return to where I had parked it to find a brick to the side and roof. Rear window has completely gone and some paint damage too. All just vandalism and nothing taken.

The great news (feel free to question my assessment of 'great' news) is that the window is the only major damage. This is despite having two bricks thrown at the car. Not even a dent in the two places the brick hit. How strong is this metalwork?! All to the rear and completely driveable.

The bad news, rear windscreens for Teslas don't appear to be a stock item from Autoglass for same day repair... Shock horror! Has anyone on the UK forums either managed to get a window quickly or is breaking a Model S that I can buy the screen?

I nipped into the Bristol store on the way back but unfortunately bank holiday Monday was the wrong day to expect an answer. I'll hopefully hear today and update back here I case anyone else faces the green eyed monster.

Seems to be a case of mindless hooliganism, but it's not the first time that a Tesla has been the object of vandalism.

Yes, I agree. A statement of intellect and ambition on their part.

Yes it seems to have bounced twice off the window (I can tell from the clever 'brick tracking technology' built into the glass) and then landed on the roof. A second brick was not aimed quite so well and landed next to the car.

So sorry to hear about this and good on you for not having a rant. I'm unsure if I'd be so calm tbh! Where in Cardiff was this as I go down from Leicester to see friends often in Canton.

Thanks! The paintwork is all sorted now and Tesla are picking up the car today.

For info the recommended glass companies from Aviva (and I expect most insurance) are Autoglass and National Windscreens. Both of these had no Tesla glass stocked and passed it to a 'specialist' buying team on Monday. After an amount of digging they'll find out Tesla have to supply them with the glass and a brake light assembly to fit as it breaks on the way out.

I also had to spend an amount of time explaining that 7-10 days just to find out if they can get the glass is too long so pushed them to approve me send it to the Tesla Service centre. Who booked me in Wednesday after approval for today, very quick!

The area was a place called Maindy on a map, hear the University Heath Park campus it that helps?

After owning the car only 2 weeks, I might have a pristine one back Monday...

To update, it's all fixed

Birmingham Tesla got me in within 3 days and took 3 working days which is reasonable. The insurance took some more convincing.

If anyone has the unfortunate need to replace a window Aviva insist you use their own recommended person. The only other alternative in their policy wording is to provide £180 - excess of £75 in this case.

I could have waited for Autoglass who, shock, don't stock this and need to see how to order it. They'll find out at some point they have to get it from Tesla.

A bit of sweet talking at Aviva explaining a 3 week lead time just to find out when they can get the glass is unacceptable. They pre approved the work at Tesla £1100 and now I'm just waiting for them to pay.
