Production lines are the easy part. Trivial even. A problem that has been solved for over a hundred years.

The logistics of assembling a global supply chain is the hard problem to solve. Missing one part out of the 5,000 or so it takes to make a car? The whole line stops.

Yes, a production line can only produce as many as the least available part. In the Chevy Bolt discussion some people asserted that Chevy could just crank up the production lines and built more Volts if they became popular. About the maximum number of functional Bolts GM could build is 50,000 a year. They could build 450,000 Bolt lawn ornaments with no batteries, but if the goal is to build complete cars, the limit is 50,000.

With BEV production, it's all about the batteries.
