stock model Y rear window tint on the outside?

I appear to have a tear on my Model Y rear window tint.

Isn't window tint normally put on the *INSIDE* of the window? I feel the tint hole on the outside.

(This is stock Model Y tint.. not aftermarket).

Anyone else notice this? I assume it will be considered a user problem, not covered by warranty.

Are you sure it is tint film from factory? From what I know, those are just dark glasses provided some privacy.

I don’t believe there is actual tint on rear windows. The glass itself is colored

Yes the tint is on purpose... many CUVs / SUVs provide this feature.

It’s not tint. It’s colored glass.

Colored glass is considered tinted. You just don't get the UV protection as you would from aftermarket film tinting.

I think Tesla just forgot to peel off the shipping film from OP's glass.

Here are some pics.. (really hard to get pics of windows!) Tissue is for focus, view from outside and inside. Really does look like a tint tear.. I opened a ticket to see what service center says (also trying to get taillight water dealt with again.. it's been over 2 weeks w/o rain and is still there)View media item 121577View media item 121576

The SC is replacing one of my rear windows because they scratched the glass scraping off the window sticker. It's regular glass on the outside surface.

just peel it off. It looks pretty obvious to me that it comes off. The window certainly has no tinting film on it from the factory.

That does seem to be the consensus, but I'll let the service center do it.. they should have done it correctly at delivery! (I'm also trying to get the water-in-the-taillight fixed again)

You were correct!

It looked like a "hole", felt like a "hole", but was a "bump".....

All better!
