I would guess that trash and carts are from non-Tesla owners. People thought it would be funny/rude to leave junk/trash where the "rich" people had to see it.

Speaking of trash, a couple of weeks ago I watched a woman get out of the passenger seat of her Model Y while her husband and child were off using the nearby amenities. She didn't think I was paying attention, and proceeded to stroll over to the Supercharger stall behind me (not the one behind her) and drop an empty Redbull can. She then went back to her car, messed around, and got two more empty Redbull cans and started walked back behind my car. I made eye contact and told her that there was a trash can just ten feet away at the end of the row of chargers. She walked over and dropped off the two cans in the newly-discovered trash can, then went back behind the charger (again, when she thought I wasn't paying attention), and grabbed the one she had dumped there. I wonder if she would have done the same thing with her family there.
Do better, people. Either make an effort to find a trash can, or keep it in your car until you do.4
