Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - Agua Fria Freeway

Beaver UT Supercharger is 70 miles from Bryce Canyon NP, and also not on my way from AZ. 150 miles from the Page, AZ Supercharger that is on my way there. So, yes I could reach Bryce and then make a 140 mile round trip to Beaver to top up every few days, but I''m not that dedicated. I haven't seen any destination chargers at anything other than an RV park. A Superchager within 20 miles or so of the park would be nice, or better destination charging. Until then, I'm not going.

Not that it wouldn't be nice to have more Supercharger Stations near National Parks, but there are already quite a few. For example:

Yellowstone NP (West Yellowstone MT)
Grand Teton NP (Jackson WY)
Arches NP (Moab UT)
Canyonlands NP (Moab UT, Blanding UT)
Zion NP (St. George UT)
Bryce Canyon NP (Beaver UT)
Petrified Forest NP (Holbrook AZ)
Saguaro NP (Tucson AZ)
Yosemite NP (Fish Camp CA)
Joshua Tree NP (Twentynine Palms CA)
Crater Lake NP (Klamath Falls OR)
Arcadia NP (Bangor ME)
Everglades NP (Florida City FL)

In the "coming soon" category:

Rocky Mountain National Park (Estes Park CO)
Great Sand Dunes NP (Alamosa CO)
Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP (Montrose CO)
Glacier NP (Whitefish MT)

The tone of your post is as if you disagree with something I wrote, but I can't figure out exactly what it is.
I'm just saying "coming soon" to me means "low priority, will get to it when we have nothing better to do."
If it had the 2018 label on it, I'd say Ok, by 1st half of 2019.
Just saying, coming soon, I think, is the code word for, "sometime in the far future."

OK - most of them say "coming soon. target end of 2018", which to me means 2019 or 2020.

But I wasn't saying that Payson and Globe aren't needed. In fact, quite the opposite.

Supercharger near Saguaro NP. That’s great news and should really boost travel to Saguaro NP by Teslas. I love it when people from places like Washington State and Colorado post on these regional threads.

Sounds like the SC network build out may slow down to slow cash burn, per quarterly report. Also sounds like next 3 mos may be ugly.
Lower model S and X production to work on model 3, just as there might be an end of year rush for the model S and X to secure the 7500 tax credit for fear of it going away.

I try to keep an eye on Arizona Supercharger Stations, having charged at seven of them and eagerly awaiting Kayenta (more direct route to Flagstaff) and Globe (more direct route to Tucson). To put it in perspective, Denver is more than twice as far away from my house as Arizona, and more than three times as far away as Utah.

The coming NW Phoenix Supercharger Station is interesting because it could allow skipping Cordes Lakes and Buckeye when heading from Flagstaff to Yuma.

Also, I was there during a busy time on Sunday and this end of the parking lot wasn't packed. ICE'ing may be kept at a minimum

FYI, I have family in South Dakota and Spearfish was targeted for end of 2018 in the most recent SC plan. But a SC suddenly appeared last month. Timing seems to be a function of opportunity in many cases, including the many SCs associated with an East Coast grocery chain. So if anyone has business contacts in Payson or Globe who would host a SC, perhaps that would speed things up. For example, many Fry’s and Safeway stores have gas pumps. Perhaps someone here knows someone in either local or regional Fry’s or Safeway management.

For the people saying that Phoenix/Scottsdale doesn't need this, you're thinking in terms of residents. The problem for visitors is significant. I have a Model X 100D. I live in Vegas and charge at home every night. I travel to the PHX area often, usually for a few days at a time, and there are few places to charge that don't take hours to get just a few miles. If I charge to 100% in Wickenburg I'll be at about 70% by the time I get to the PHX metro area. I need to make sure I have at least 40% in order to get back to Wickenburg comfortably so I don't get to drive around much once I'm in town. Phoenix/Scottsdale is a common destination for both business and recreation and this is absolutely necessary.

Power to the transformer pad is being pulled from near the AMC theaters rather than from a closer location by The Noodles Company.

APS supply power is more stable by the AMC. It’s a long way to the AMC’s so lines must be torpedoed from near the AMC’s under the exisiting parking lot to the transformer pad.

The mini stabilizing transformers may or may not be ultimately used here. It is dependent on the stability of the APS power supply. The technicians will determine quality of power once lines are pulled and the transformer is in place. The utility cabinets, superchargers & pedestals must also be connected.

There will be an enclosure around the equipment (Superchargers & Utility cabinets) as well. Site clean up is underway as we will now have to keep an eye out for the transformer and associated APS wiring.

A few more photos. The AMC Theaters are in the background of the last two photos to help visualize the distance the torpedoing will have to cover.

Does anyone know how to upload pictures so that we can just use the arrow buttons to get to the next picture rather than opening up a new window? I've seen posting both ways and I'm not sure what the technique is to get the pictures to show with one mouse click and then arrow keys to get to the next.

BTW - thanks to everyone posting pictures of the progress regardless of posting style.
