Seems BBB is dead.

Perhaps but the climate change provisions containing the EV credits don't need to be passed as part of BBB. And just a couple of days ago Manchin suggested that he was on board with passing that part.

Based on what he's said Manchin seems like he's amenable to passing a bill which would have the EV tax credits even though it wouldn't be BBB.

Very unlikely as they would have to pass just the climate part as their reconciliation (which they can only do once) and even that part would be watered down and they would have to abandon everything else. Outside of reconciliation it would have zero chance of passing the senate. I think the bottom line is if you want a Tesla buy it before the price goes up even more, chances for any sort or break (especially for teslas) are now in slim to none territory any time soon.

...which they can only do once...

Not true. There was a parliamentarian ruling last year which said that a reconciliation bill can be amended after the fact to include new items and the amendment would also follow the reconciliation process. So essentially they can pass one reconciliation bill and add more to it via the amendment process as many times as they like and those amendments would also follow the reconciliation process.

Nope. She made another ruling after that clarifying and pouring cold water on that plan. They essentially have only one shot and thats it.

Not looking for debate on if bill passes or not… What I’d really like to understand is if destination is considered part of MSRP thus exceeding $55,000 for my configuration. Don’t really want to change wheels just to meet hypothetical scenario, but probably will just to be covered.

Does everyone think we will get tax credits with the build back better plan?. Specifically the cybertruck?.
I think an EV tax credit is unlikely while Ford still has credits coming in and GM is shipping vehicles which don’t qualify for the incentive.

Maybe they’ll revisit it next year when Ford runs out of credits and GM needs a way to deliver a $30,000 EV they promised.

This Administration & Congress seems very pro-union in the EV space, to the point of excluding/ignoring any business that doesn't have an active union. As such, expect Tesla will not benefit from climate legislation for non-climate reasons.
There is every indication that Tesla will benefit greatly if an EV incentive does pass. Maybe not as much on a per vehicle basis, but they will absolutely make it up in volume.

Obviously things can change, but we’ve seen there are enough parties willing to block the measure if it gets too ridiculous.

If the proposal is signed into law soon, do you think it will apply to all 2022 tax year EV purchases? 🤔
