Tesla Model 3 shines in the Netherlands According to official stats, in March, the Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling car of any kind in the Netherlands with 2,195 new registrations (5.6% of all sales). We failed to spot a single model that would be above 1,000 registrations, and we believe that the second-best plug-in model...

Clearly the bottom has fallen out of the US market - hence need to sell in Netherlands /s

To put that number in perspective

Q1 2019 Registrations
Audi A4: 523
BMW 3 Series: 1031
Mercedes C Class ; 946

All Audi models: 3565
All BMW models: 6367
All Mercedes Benz models: 4790

And all but 512 of those Model 3 registrations happened in March.Granted pent up demand is a lot of this story, but even if they slow down a lot they're still going to be a major player in this market.

Note also that only the high end versions of the Model 3 are shipping to Europe right now which are likely significantly more expensive than the average of the 3 cars listed above. (base 3 series is ~42k euro, cheapest model 3 long range is 57k euros)

They were delivering fast and furious in California due to the short shipping distance. A friend ordered on Friday and picked up Saturday. There a lot of them on the road here now so I can see where the market might be getting a bit saturated, then again more people have been asking me about Teslas now that the cheaper model 3's are out so who knows.

Of course they are truly amazing numbers. My sarcastic comment was 'tongue in cheek' (sorry if any of you missed the /s at the end). I was suggesting how some of the shorts will try to pitch the Netherlands numbers. They try to create blackness behind every Tesla success.

The real official numbers, you have to scroll down a bit, Tesla sold more Model 3's in March then any other brand sold any model in Februari+March combined. Ford Focus did sell over a 1000 in march though.
