Went to KOP mall in PA and the Tesla store there mentioned the possibility of having a M3 there sometime between Jan-March 2018. Thought it would be interesting to post if anyone sees the M3 in Tesla stores and the store locations.
They've had one since early September, I was there when it arrived. They took it to service so that the guys could completely disassemble it and put it back together a few dozen times apparently. Not sure about when it'll be displayed for the public...

I always have extra parts. My experience is that you really don't need them. I think manufacturers put in extra parts on purpose just to confuse repair people.
