I wonder if the code name is indicative of reducing costs by using recycled battery materials?

Edit: Ninja’d by @Oveeus
I hope it is that, and they're NOT aiming for the Redwood tree connotations: large, unwieldy, endangered, subject to fires, hard/inflexible, and (the kicker)... extremely slow-growing! ;)

I just listen to Meet Kevin from yesterday... It's all about this.
My 2.5 M is hopeful as several Factories need to grow, but I think this group has it right at 2.3 M (although it would put a bit of shade on Tesla growth).

With a mere 2.1 M forecast... they had better have a rabbit or a bird in the other hand, else I made some wasted moves this week.

Here's where we stand today, I'll leave open for a bit longer to vote or change it.

I see more an more predicting the guidance will be 2.1. Who knows if they are just running with the same bad info or not.

Can anybody explain the part of that tweet that said: "At the same time we are revamping our service manual for better maintenance (e.g.: correct cleaning method to reduce b-side residue)."

The things I'm uncertain about:
- I assume the service manual is different from the owners manual, so this is likely instructions for the service center?
- Does "b-side" refer to the camera lenses? the inside of the windshield? The outside of the windshield (I would assume that's the A surface)?
- Does this seem like "regular maintenance" or a "do it when something gets replaced" thing? At least for the front-facing cameras, I would have assumed that the cameras are well sealed inside their little box against the windshield...so I would think that the only way for residue to be in there is if the windshield wasn't prepped when first installed (or when a replacement windshield gets installed)....
Contamination on the inside of the windshield causes glare and other optical effects that annoy the NN and cause false wiper activations.
Due to adhesive/ plastic outgassing, environmental contaminants, or initally present on the glass.
The camera housing attaches to bracket and it's only a gasket/foam interface at the edges to the windshield and it has a cooling/ ventilation fan.

Wealthsimple has been rolling out (and pushing hard) stock lending. I've attached their email so you can see how they're trying to convince us to let them use our shares to cover their gambles and get them loans they don't deserve. Sure, they give a bit of cash in return, but it enables the Gambling Game, and I'll have none of it. A tiny bit of 'passive' income isn't worth supporting a rigged casino and breaching my personal ethics.

I personally invest to help useful companies succeed (hence me avoiding some 'profitable' companies whose core business activities don't line up with things that enhance my life or those I care about). I don't care to make money by letting financial goons profit from gambling - it adds no real tangible value to the world. I understand that others care more about $$ profit irrespective of income source ("Well, I can use the extra cash for good"), and I understand that it's a logical argument, but it ignores long term sustainability.

Edit: it's 'funny'(/revealing) that they don't differentiate naked shorting, which is why they need the loans in the first place...

I'd love to see them forecast 2.1 M for 2024,
then achieve it in Q3...

When I took delivery of my TM3 in June of 2018, the inside of the windscreen had the typical haze from plastic off-gassing.

Over the following 18 months, as the more volatile items off-gassed, I would employ a rather laborious technique to keep the inside of the windscreen absolutely crystal clear of any haze.

Fast forward to today…the inside of the windscreen is clear except for the area that I cannot access, the area that is bounded by the shroud that holds the three forward looking cameras.

The inside of the glass in that zone is cloudy from 5.5 years of off-gassing haze having never been cleaned off.

IMO that area should have some easy technique to move the shroud and gain access to that portion of the windscreen.

Edit: @mongo beat me to it.

Often companies provide a range and then tighten that range/number in future earnings calls. Perhaps they guide 2.1m to 2.3m.

At the risk of messing up your camera angle, you can find the procedure to remove the cameras here:

gotta say it ... worst i have felt going into earnings since 2017 ...bullish ... right ?.... right ?

on a positive note on Tesla service .... like an idiot i broke my charge port door in recent ice storm (dont ask 😔 )
mobile service was great ... left car in driveway ... went to work and when i returned part replaced and car fixed ...only interaction was technician verifying my address

normally i would do this myself but the simplicity of mobile service it was no brainer to let Tesla service do the work

I expect 7 to 10 millions pre-orders for new NGV globally within the first month of unveil. $700 million to $1 billion in interest free money to Tesla - enough to set up trial line at Texas.
"Natural Gas for Vehicles (NGV) or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is an automotive fuel derived from the compression of natural gas, the bulk of which is methane, to about 3,000 pounds/square inch (psi) and storage in containers of extreme strength and durability, including steel."?

At the risk of injecting some realism, all the brilliance of tesla's amazing data collection and analytics teams probably seems ridiculous to leacy auot because they would solve this complex issue by...
Just installing a simple, cheap easily availble rain sensor like the original model S had, and which worked perfectly, all the time.

Average car buyers dont care how clever Teslas software is, or how in-depth the 'service manual' is (arent we supposed to brag about LESS service?). What they care about is if the wipers work automatically.
Which in almost any car over $50k other than a Tesla, they do.

Tesla need to fix auto-wipers as a priority, ditto with auto-park. They are rapidly becoming a company that talks a great game about an FSD/bot future but cannot make a car with the same features as models half the price.

I think they meant "Next Generation Vehicles (NGV)"!

I'm antsy for a truly practical 7-8 seater from Tesla. Something that can actually compete on practicality and versatility with a minivan. A van or perhaps a uniquely practical full size SUV...maybe there's some hope from something on the Cybertruck platform.

It's not even a matter of a tear-down...but I hope folks at Tesla that can drive decisions are driving around and living with a minivan and their family so they can realize how Tesla vehicles don't get close to certain aspects of that mark yet.

I've got the 7-seat Y, and it's good for certain things with the family and dog. The X (at a big price step up) would offer a little more. But neither really gets close to a modern not-so-minivan when it comes to hauling people, and being able to reconfigure, stow, or remove seats for people- and cargo-flexibility. And I think they all still come with a spare tire and jack kit that stashes somewhere inside (a personal security blanket that I would value).
Elon's right side of his brain was designing the CyberTurd to be what you wanted. But the Left side of his brain waged a war to pretend to make a truck because SUV minivans are not S3XY. The Vehicle you (and I) seek is right there...mimus a moving walkway roof.
