So, to be clear, manufacturing is not allowed without the final permit?
My background is IT not law, but quite certain.

Logically, a temporary permit only makes sense temporarily so it must be replaced by a permanent/final permit at some point.

The germans may be inclined toward caution and bureacracy, but logic and reason is also a big thing.

Because its the middle and up classes bying them.....hello!?!?!

To be frank . . . the lower-middle and lower classes just don't buy new cars. Even the entry level cars are too expensive for them to buy new. They buy used, and the used cars are typically something that was like Corolla/Camry/Fusion/etc. Something that after 5+ years of depreciation in someone else's hands they can afford.

"Moral" arguments aside, I don't forsee that changing with the transition to EVs.

Did my part for Q4.

TL; DR: "Hertz has started installing EV chargers for some of its first Tesla Model 3 rentals, Drive Tesla Canada reports. Hertz is preparing for the rise in customers choosing an EV over an ICE vehicle and is installing EV chargers at some of their rental lots. One such lot is at the Fort Myers International Airport where a recent permit, issued last week, showed that Hertz is building Tesla chargers for its new vehicles. The valuation of $50,000 shows that this will be a pretty large charging station."

Some random rude...and now deleted...political post.
Demand is still high enough that an awesome EV will sell itself. Incentives are not what is holding back companies from building awesome EV's.

This being an investment forum, what is the near term impact on TSLA of the failure of BBB to pass? Between that, EM selling, and shorts, will this create a triple threat buying opportunity for the first part of the upcoming week?
Nothing.

Near term, Tesla still has a backlog for 6+ months, they’ve survived without incentives for 2 years now.

Longer term, Tesla is best positioned margin wise to produce EVs cost competitive with ICE.

I guess the reaction will be negative but people are queueing up for a year or longer to buy a Tesla already, they are directly competing against the ICE vehicles and are just about to launch the Austin 4680 model Y..

Plus 2/3rds of tesla sales are external of USA

TL;DR: Tesla is one of the five-largest companies in the market-capitalization weighted index.

"Tesla leads the way in Carbon Collective's updated Climate Index, which focuses on “scalable solutions” such as electric vehicles, plant-based food, healthcare, and other clean energy companies.

San Francisco-based Carbon Collective is the first online investment advisor 100% focused on climate change. The company offers investment assistance by helping to shape climate-focused portfolios. The Carbon Collective has added 62 companies specializing in “scalable” environmental solutions to its climate index, Bloomberg reported."

I think a form of the BBB will still pass - the enhanced child tax credit expiring on Dec 31st is too big a grenade for even Manchin to have go off in his face (unless he really is contemplating a switch of allegiance to the GOP, which is indeed possible). Senate has until Jan 15th to get a bill to Bidens desk for the next child tax credit payment to be made.

However to get BBB passed, one thing that may indeed be the sacrificial lamb is a huge reduction or outright elimination in the EV credit component.

In the short term todays moves by Manchin may actually benefit Tesla Q4 numbers. In the long run no EV credit being available to Tesla will be a negative on margins, as ASP will skew lower, especially as Austin capacity ramps up.

Most of the other automakers still get incentives from the Obama era program.

Aside from that, we don’t need to do anything. The market is switching to EVs simply by nature of EVs being better cars to drive and own.

If other car makers don’t make EVs, people will buy Teslas. Every year that passes, Teslas get better and cheaper for Tesla to build. Every year from here out, it becomes harder for ICE vehicles to compete.

We’ve hit the inflection point, and EVs have already won. It’s just going to take a few years for this whole thing to play out. The longer companies wait, the lower their chances of surviving the next 10 years.

Stock goes up. Tsla and the market in general does the opposite of the obvious. This is why so few people actually makes money from stocks.

Great find by Joe.
What are the chances that a lot of the pieces of equipment we see are made in-house?

This is by the way primarily possible due the open and generous nature of Elon. Where else would drones have an almost free rein when an important and ground-breaking new factory is being built?
It feels like we are spying on Tesla but since Elon OK'ed it, we should just count ourselves very lucky to witness this.
Musk isn’t just letting people “Spy“ on him. He allowed a massive tour of their factory with thousands of people taking extremely detailed photos.

Musk is daring others to copy him.

I know it may seem like any help toward EV purchases is a plus, BUT, one should keep in mind that there is no such thing as a free lunch. When a big part of the bill is designed to help Union and hybrids which will cost the American tax payers a huge amount of money and worsen inflation, it may actually do more harm than help. Elon is absolutely right. This bill is so bloated it's disgusting.

Without the obvious UAW punt do we think Joe would have voted for it?
