At least in a house, you can't (legally) put a NEMA 14-50 on a circuit rated for less than 50A. If you put a 50A receptacle on there you must expect loads of 50A.

Right.

You typically don't print the overall power rating on a receptacle either, but rather voltage and current rating... so that saying anything about "KW" would seem odd.

Um, yes you can. You can use a 40A circuit breaker and 40A wiring connected to a NEMA 14-50 since North America has no 40A receptacles. But at any rate, that would still be 9.6 kW (at 40A, 240V) which is still better than the 30A/240V that most portable generators top out at, and what the F150 Lighting currently has (which is the current power offload EV leader).

I'm a little concerned with the recessed arrangement of the NEMA 14-50 outlet. It looks like some plugs would need some sort of extender to get the prongs seeded properly.

But surely Tesla has thought of this? Or maybe the picture makes it look like the outlet has too much depth?

It also looks like a plug in the 14-50 outlet could block what appears to be an anchor point below (not fully shown in this pic).

It does look kinda mickey mouseish. 14-50 plugs are normally right angled so it would block the above plugs or not sit properly. Maybe Tesla includes a straight out 1' extension cord or something. That's one the "nice" things about the 30A L14-30 that the F150 Lighting has - all those cord and plugs are straight since it is a locking plug (you need to rotate the plug when plugging in). BTW, having a locking plug is also nice.

Maybe this is a pre-production?

Incidentally, if those specs are accurate, the CT frunk volume is 1/2 the size of the Ford F150 Lighting's and the Rivian, and it is just a little bit bigger than the Model X frunk volume.
It definitely looks like a very weird frunk as well, it looks as though things could fall out on the ground everytime you open it.

BTW, if anyone is interested in the battery minerals space, there's a good mini virtual conference this Friday, and its free to stream. More info:

So tired of seeing FUD article after FUD article.
Barrons - The EV Meltdown Is Obscuring a Disaster for Industrial Stocks
Fortune - Elon Musk’s affordability problem—Tesla is fast running out of early adopters, but its cars are still too expensive for most buyers

If only someone or some company could use some $ to push back on all the FUD.
See post above. How exactly would one do it? Pay?

Which part of Tesla will never pay corrupt media don't you people get?

I sure hope and expect the Cybertruck frunk to be 1/2 the size of that from a Rivian RT1 or Ford F150 Lightning. If one really wants a beluga nose with far inferior aerodynamics and far inferior front visibility than Cybertruck, then those are their options.

This definitely has a "rugged" / DIY look to it. Hopefully this is pre-production and it's more user-friendly than this indicates.

More info on India market entry on moneycontrol.com, does anyone know that site? Says that it is likely that cars for India will come from Giga Berlin first because they don´t want made in China ones. Seems plausible but would treat it as rumor as of now. Hopefully we´ll know more after the meeting of Elon and the Indian commerce minister.
