Agreed, but many people list theirs just to help other EV drivers. I think even listing one that you can charge for is silly... how much could you really profit from it in a month? And would that really be worth havibg to content with strangers for your own charger?
Would not make me a millionaire, but with the price structure in Denmark it would actually bepossible to make some money and at the same time help someone out.
Tomorrow i am going to go on a company related trip, i need to stay at a hotel, this hotel has destination chargers but the price per kilowatt is 0,67 USD, at this price it would have been cheaper in "fuel" to just keep my diesel car.
About 0.6 miles from there, a private accountant company as some destination chargers they decided to make public, these "only" cost 0,29 USD so i am going to park my car there for the night and walk to the hotel (I always walk anyway, trying to not gain the weight i recently lost).
Here in Denmark for normal consumers we pay 0,19 USD just in taxes for every kilowatt, so if the electricity at a particular time cost, lets say 0,11 USD, i pay 0,30 USD per kilowatt, combined.
But if i at that time sell a kilowatt i only get the 0,11 USD (And the price is even lower because the company i sell to, also has to make a profit).
So basically...If someone charges at my charger right at that time, and the electricity comes from my solar panels, i can charge them, lets say 0,40 USD per kilowatt, i only lose the 0,11 i could have sold it for and i make 0,29 USD per kilowatt.
I would theoretically be making 3,19 USD per hour, more than if i just sold it.
And remember, i am competing with the destination chargers in my city that at the minimum charges 0,60 USD and bear in mind, this is only a few, most are more expensive.
In my city there are even destination chargers that charge 1,25 USD per kilowatt. I honestly do not know who would want to charge at those, but i guess it is mainly tourists that are not paying attention the the prices.
So yeah, while it does not make me a millionaire, it would possibly make a bit of money, and just like the charger i will charge at, tomorrow night, i am helping out some fellow EV owner, charge their car at a price that actually makes it cheaper per kilometer to drive their car, compared to diesel.
