Possibly has to do with lack of an IR filter. Many security cameras from days gone by didn’t have IR filters so they could see better in low light. This made color rendering…less than optimal. More recently you’ll see them have a mechanical IR filter that goes into place during the day, and then gets out of the way at night when the camera also switches to black and white.
not saying it’s definitely the cause, but I’d say it’s at least plausible.
