Go file a lemon law claim and return it to Tesla ASAP.
Next thing you know the wheel will not look black enough, and are liable to fall off!

Yes, it's normal. The color rendering in teslacam videos is terrible. That's not what they're really about though, so it doesn't bother me.

It isn’t supposed to be a work of art. The system is optimized for computer vision and object recognition in a variety of lighting conditions, not beautiful dashcam clips.

Supposedly it’s not an RGB sensor, so colors are whacky. It was made for machine vision and nighttime sensitivity, the dash can feature was an afterthought.

Thanks for confirming this. I met up with a RED Model Y over the weekend and the color looks ORANGE.

Glad I found this thread. Reds appear orange in sentry footage from front and side on my 5 month old 2021 MY. I thought it was a defect, but appears this is normal. Rear camera colors are fine.

Will not worry about it.

The OP is dutch, so everything orange is normal! That's a country-specific feature!

Colors are definitely not accurate. Red seem to be the most noticeable.

Possibly has to do with lack of an IR filter. Many security cameras from days gone by didn’t have IR filters so they could see better in low light. This made color rendering…less than optimal. More recently you’ll see them have a mechanical IR filter that goes into place during the day, and then gets out of the way at night when the camera also switches to black and white.

not saying it’s definitely the cause, but I’d say it’s at least plausible.

I've also noticed that the videos seem a tad fuzzy and the contrast levels are low. I assume it was that way for a reason. As mentioned here, i believe the intent is not for 4K quality videos but rather to meet some criteria of the AI.
