Teslafi and pre-heating the car

Yeah, on each parking event there’s a separate calculation of kWh and range used by conditioning

Although, it doesn't explicitly say if it's plugged in, and you have to infer it during the charge events as kWh added v. used

The raw api data has it - i.e. it always knows when it is/isn't connected to power, and if conditioning is/isn't active

Hi Guys. Anyone had the experience that it takes longer to get the car sleeping when your at home?
When at home sleeping takes more then 2h (normally 2.05h) but when I am on other locations it take around 41 min.

cant figure out why? Found an other Tesla/teslafi owner with the same issue

So i tried 2 things:

1: i removed the kwh price of my HOME tagged location
2: I turned off bluetooth on both my smartphones

My car is parked right beside my house, within range of the BT smartphones.

After i did both changes the car slept within 15min instead of 2h.

Is this an bug? Have to see what did the trick (BT or kwh price?)
Have an samsung S8 and iphone 6S

Sound familiar?

if you figure it out let us know will you. My guess would be it might be the phones. is the car in range of bluetooth when you are in the house? and do you have it set to auto-unlock with the phone? could you be constantly unlocking it unknowingly?

Yes, in my house it is in range. It goes to locking when i go in my house. No automatically unlocking and locking because i have the "horn when locking" option on. I assume that when you stay in BT range, even when the car is locked, the car does not goes to sleep but stays awake for about 2h and then goes to sleep.
On every other location then home it goes sleeping after 15-20min. Only at home it takes 2h and always drain of 0.5kwh. And only at home i am in constant range of the car with bluetooth.

How ca i report this to Tesla? maybe its an option they can implement in next Fw version?

Worth testing. Have an Samsung S8 and Iphone 6S here

So found the cause. Wifi is keeping car awake. When wifinetwork is forget idle > sleep in 14min.
With wifi active I takes 2:05h and up to 1Kwh of drain. Disable wifi won't work.

Count all the unnecessary engery spillings all over the world...would go up to gigawatts....it's a shame

Yes, two main things keep the car awake if it's parked.

1. Sentry mode
2. TeslaFi (unless you have the sleep modes activated) and/or any other status service you may have given access to your account.

TeslaFi (etc) asks the car for a sitrep every minute, which keeps it awake

Here's an example of what the car tells teslaFi each time it asks how it is.

I am quite sure its not the WiFi as I had this exact problem and then I tested the car by leaving is idle (without wifi) and the car would wake up and stay idle for up to 4 hrs a day if its not driven, if you drive the car then when you get home it may idle for a few hours if you have driven or kept the car awake for many hours. I now have WiFi on and not changed anything and the car sleeps as expected.
Tested it for months.

An other owner with a m3 for half a year.
When forgetting the WIFI network car goes to sleep within 14 min. With wifi disabled or enabled it takes between 02:05H-02:08H.
For the first time these months te car goes to sleep within 14min.

We have the best teslafi settings. Can any experience user post there sleep mode setting?

Thanks for de answer

Got back home after a day out this evening at 21:06. By 21:49 the car was asleep. I use Teslafi and have WiFi enabled. I basically use the default Teslafi sleep settings.
Maybe big differents between en MS en M3? I have the HW3.0 with FSD
Does the MS upload the sentry/videofiles automatically to Tesla? I think that this is a huge amount of data that is send thru WIFI at home.
