So, I thought that I would drop photos of the first three WAEV charge sites when heading in from NT.

This is Kununurra. I was the first person to charge here as far as I know. Oddly, the AC charger was not turned on.

This is Warmun Roadhouse. The DC was not yet commissioned, but the AC was on and responded to my RFID card.

Finally, this is Halls Creek. This one was still being wired up and I got to take a look inside the cabinet.

I am loving the curved roof, which both protects the equipment from the elements, as well as making the chargers really easy to spot from a distance.

Today I will look for the Fitzroy Crossing and Derby charge sites.

Great series of photos.

I renew my objection to critical infrastructure relying on an app.

EFTPOS please. Let the banks do what banks know how to do.
Not linked to today's problems in any way. All of these units have credit card readers. The sites couldn't communicate their status back to Chargefox. It wouldn't matter what your payment method was. App, RFID or debit/credit card would have had the same issue - there have been quite prominent issues with card payment terminal systems in the past. At least with app or RFID they could have free-vended (which I believe happened in this case), stored your session details locally and charged to your account later on. I can't see a credit card provider doing that (and as to whether it can be stored locally, I'm not sure, but recording credit card details on a storage system in an unmanned, remote location sounds rife with issues).

The road from Halls Creek to Fitzroy Crossing is some 290km and there are no services on it. The WA EV Network lists a charger at Mueller Ranges in between the two towns as a fast charger location.

It seems this charger is literally just at a road site rest area with no services, well there is a drop dunny about 500m from the charger.

The site is not yet complete. Seems they just need to roll out the solar. Inverters, battery, genset and charger are all already installed on site.

I have seen, in photos and one in person, of stand alone sites but I think so far they have all been colocated next to road houses.

In my travels I had actually been thinking a number of these rest areas would do well to be also fast charge sites for top ups as anywhere you stop for 10 or 15 minutes would work well to keep things topped up.

The actual rest area here is Ngumban Cliff rest stop, about 200km from Halls Creek and 100km from Fitzroy Crossing.

In other news Fitzroy Crossing is not working, had been previously according to plugshare, chargers report no power/voltage.

@RichardV Im assuming you’re heading south-west? Can you get some updated photos on Bidyadanga, Sandfire and eventually Minilya T-Junction (north of Carnarvon), all these locations were constructed bar the solar panels in late May, progress has seemingly stopped. Also Pardoo Roadhouse is reported switched back on.

We are doing a u-turn at Broome so will not be passing through these locations.
