This is the official retrofit of model 3 CCS been announced?

Brought in my 2018 lr rwd for the retrofit. They tried and said the car wouldn't accept the ECU. They said 2020 model 3s have different retrofit ecus, but that they made sure the one they ordered was compatible with my vin. They are ordering another one and will try again another day

That’s interesting.
Going on a road trip at the end of the month so I better check if a local supercharger works fine and an electrify America charger.
My home Tesla wall charger works fine since the retrofit.

I'm curious to know if the retrofit portion of the kit can be purchased directly from the service center without the adapter. If anyone obtains the part number on the harness, please let us know!
For those of you who already own the CCS Combo 1 adapter and are interested in purchasing just the official retrofit ECU (PN 1537264-09-B). Or those who (like me) have done the unofficial retrofit "A bundle of wires with a board" and are interested in upgrading to the official retrofit without a bundle of wires:

I just spoke to the parts manager at the Irvine Barranca Pkwy service center and he told me that he was unable to find this PN in their internal catalog. I explained that it was part of the retrofit and according to him that is why it is not in the catalog and it is not possible to purchase this separately. YMMV, this is just my interaction (and historically when buying parts OTC from Tesla different service centers have given different answers) but I was told that it is not possible to buy just this ECU alone without also paying for another adapter.

I stopped at my local service center and purchased just the CCS board for $149.45 with tax. It took them a few minutes to track down the part and confirm I could install it myself. It probably also helped I've gotten to know the people at my service center and it was at the end of the day when they were slow.

This item shown in your picture is the gen 4 chargeport ECU which enables CCS charging on cars from mid-2021 and newer. If used on an older car, it will require the bundle on wires adapter. For cars 2017-2021, the OEM ECU that is included in the retrofit adapter bundle is 1537264-09-B and currently not being sold separately (per users in this thread).

Bummer. Will have to take this back. I just want the board...

I decided to pull the trigger on the retrofit ECU + adapter combo since I was unable to purchase the ECU separately. Some pics of the board for any of the charging geeks out there. It's a much smaller footprint than the original ECU, only taking up about half of the plastic casing.

I was a bit disappointed when I went to look for my original factory ECU and realized the tech left with it. I called him up to ask for it back and he tried to play dumb stating he thinks he is supposed to take it back to Tesla. I could hear the nervousness in his voice. I reminded him that this was untrue and he brought it back to me. Sadly, I bet many of these techs are keeping used parts for themselves from unknowing Tesla customers and making a side hustle out of it.

Maybe a few, but it really seems to be Tesla policy to hang onto any old parts they can.

My tech had no issue leaving the old board. Definitely a significant reduction of the parts count. However, I wish the new board had the conformal coating of the original.

I was with @Big Earl when he has his rear motor replaced in his TM3 and he wanted the old part. They spent a ton of time hemming and hawing, and calling superiors, but after telling him NO all afternoon, and Maybe, but it’ll be $1600 core charge, he finally got to take it and for free. It’s heavy but somehow he drove from the Bay Area back to home North of Seattle with it sitting on his sub-trunk cover the whole way. Stronger than it looks.

I don’t know if he’s DONE anything with it, just a nice part to keep.

Interesting experience when I went to return the 1537264-09-B. The guy at the counter said he was not allowed to take returns on parts. When I left I sent a text to the mobile ranger I've gotten to know a bit and asked, "How does Tesla make ECU part P1537264-00-B work in the Model 3? Can’t return it and Tesla won’t sell or even find the ECU included in the CCS kit with the adapter." I was just about to pull the trigger and buy the bundle of wires when he texted back: "Yeah that ECU will not work. I just tried to research what part number was in the kit and there is no info as of yet to what part number that ECU is. I just talked to (the other tech there I know) if u want to bring it back and return it you can."

I never did get an answer how they would make P1537264-00-B work in a Model 3. When the parts guy typed 1537264-09-B, the board in the CCS kit, into their system he said the part number flipped back to P1537264-00-B.

The other interesting part is how the service center seems to be staffed today. The mobile ranger was in the shop working on the day I picked up the board, as was the other tech I know. I discussed what I wanted to do with both of them. He was also in the shop the day I returned the part. A year ago there seemed to be a manager of the service center, but I have not seen her the last few times I've been there the past 6 months.

Apparently the tech I know had the authority to override Tesla policy. Making relationships to the rescue.

Since Telsa killed CCS they need to make just the board available for the coming NACS heads that need to speak CCS.

It works on the newer Model 3s, not the older ones. The older cars have a different part number: 1092755-98-D:

But I don't think it supports CCS/NACS. Currently, the only way to get that one is via the retrofit kit.
