Also, when they show the speed it rises slower than expected. Could it be that the performance version had the spoiler but not the speed unlocked?

Someone watched the full episode told me the full lap time of M3P was 1:21.5

Same as v12 DB11, faster than ///M3, f type R, some 911s and AMGs

Yep, it appears it was scripted to get second place as they moved the goal posts (half-mile race) and it was at 57% SoC and power-limited (dashed lines). The fact that it still only lost by about a car length after all that is very impressive.

What's even more impressive? Chris Harris just announced he's buying one. Excellent news from arguably the best automotive journalist ever, in my opinion.

The clip showing SOC may be misleading since it could have been captured before or after the actual run.

Well...that was exciting! Thought I'd take a quick peek at a what a comparable setup in the AMG would cost over a Model 3 Performance. Looks like you'd have to shell out about another $19,000 (this is with adding features to make it more "Tesla-like")...and you'd still have to pay the gas guzzler tax, higher insurance, and burn fermented dinosaurs. Not worth it.
