Trade in Values from Tesla (& other dealers)

What I know from speaking to many dealers especially the specialists is that dealers are not particularly interested in purchasing used Model Ys right now due to them expecting the Y to come down in price soon, when this happened in January for example on the Y LR it reduced the average price by £4-5k inline with the reduction in price. Perhaps worth looking at some nearly new Model Ys over a brand new one if you want a deal or wait to see if there are some discounts in the near future!

Well, my nearly 4 year old M3P- is now worth less than £20k
Definitely gonna keep it until it pops :)
(But at least it has free premium connectivity…. and stalks!)
I managed to trade the same in for double last year for a Y, I miss the quietness and handling, realistically at £20k it would be a bargain, if you want to sell :)

Just got a trade in value. Dec 21 model. good as new pretty much. 26k miles. - trade in value of £18,000.

I'll be honest, that is absolutely shocking.....so much that I probably wont be going for Tesla at all next time. I guess I could get more selling it privately but holy cr@p batman that is the worse I've had in any new car.

I got a call from Tesla to ask if I wanted to swap it in for a new one, I said, unless Tesla want to up my trade in value by a lot.....there is no chance in hell.

They aren't doing themselves any favours if they want to keep their customers, that is for sure.

Just got a quote for my 2020 M3P - £22,100 (7k miles and FSD probably making the difference here).

Based on a £60,790 purchase price, that's £841.09 a month depreciation, including this month which hasn't finished yet.

Can't remember what my PCP/leasing quotes were back in 2020 but I know the monthlies were less than that.

like we saw with the Hertz unload, leasing companies must be taking the same bath we potentially are
my opinion and no choice at this point, keep the Tesla until it dies
we had to know this going in, for obsolesce has been accelerated by the tesla price drops...more to come

I had to smile this morning reading an old iirc What Car group review that had a plus point for Tesla (Model Y?) was its very low depreciation.

Earlier this year when we were looking to swap to a Kia EV 6, the garage flatly refused any trade in on a Tesla. 6 months before it was <10k swap, yet by time new car was on boat and notified of it arrival, it was >30k based on quotes from the other usual suspects.

I had thought about doing that, until Tesla got rid of the extended warranty program here in the UK. I had intended to extend mine by 4 years, for peace of mind, even bearing in mind the exclusions. I haven't had anything major go wrong with my car in ~4 years, but I have had several niggly warranty issues.

I've gone from thinking about getting a Plaid M3P, to reconsidering whether I even feel comfortable keeping the car I've got!
