Trunk Latch Problem

My 2015 90D has had the problem for a week. I was looking to go to get it replaced, but just tried this trick and it worked !!!!
I'm new to this forum but very glad I joined!

2015 85D. The holding the button trick worked for me too! At some point I plan to buy the cinching actuator and do the replacement myself. Until then, my trunk is closed and I can once again use AP/lock door etc. Woot!

Thanks, hingisfan, worked for me too. What a satisfying sound that was, when the actuator kicked on.

Now, what on earth made you come up with, 'Maybe I'll just push the button in and hold for 15 seconds, then rapidly press on and off after that.' ??

Mine would not latch closed, 2014 S, non power lift gate..... Just got it working by holding in the trunk button above the license plate for 10 or 15 seconds, then rapid taps of the same button. I could hear the actuator pop back to the home position, and now works again!

I have the same problem on my 2013 non power liftgate and it actually works for me as well! Amazing!
How did you come up with this idea?

Not sure lol..... It happens still once in a while.... Rapid pressing of the trunk button always works, you dont have to hold it in first.

The problem came back, I used the same solution and it fixed it again.
The fact that it came back, probably points toward a soon to replace part that is telling me "I am close to retirement" ;-)

Thank god for this forum and its knowledgeable members that just saved me.

The rapid pressing fix worked for me aswell.

Thinking one step ahead, as @mchevrier is, does this point us in the direction of soon the actuator replacement should be done?
