Can anyone recommend some suitable insurance providers which they've done a recent policy with?

Picking my car up in few days. A 2023 MYP. Insurance looks nuts, for someone with a good history like mine too.
10 Years NCB, Parked on Drive, no points or claims. In Nottinghamshire, Semi Rural. Protecting NCB; Excess around £800 inc VE; Inc for about 1k miles Business use and 12k total

£993 - Admiral Gold - (But I've read on Which.co.uk that their policy isn't very good.)
After that everything jumps up by hundreds.
£1500 - Direct Line
£1450 - Churchill (Again, policy not brilliant)
£2680 - LV
£ - Aviva - We're sorry but we won't be able to provide you with cover online or over the phone.

:(

Thinking of trying Adrian Flux, AIB, etc.

I don't think this forum has identified a universal best option for insurance, Direct Line are Tesla's 'partner' insurer, whatever that means. All prices seem to be up by 50% this year across the board.

You also didn't say where you live, £993 would be an absolute bargain inside the M25.

Try Privilege Insurance, same group as DL and Churchill but seem cheaper.

Admiral quoted me £700 back in May; try the various comparison websites if you havent already and make sure to start the insurance in approximately 22 days from now. Getting insurance in a few days time will always attract a higher premium.

I'm looking at getting a MYLR and am in semi-rural Notts too, the best quotes I've had have been:

Admiral - £829
Elephant - £837
Diamond - £845
Admiral Gold - £853

All £650 excess, 10 years + NCB, garaged, no points or claims.

I know EV rates are higher, but they are ridiculous, I'm paying £185 for a Boxster.

You are looking at 4 quotes from the same underwriter, makes sense.
They all belong to Admiral Group

Have you tried shopping elsewhere through price comparison website like meerkats & gocompare?

Thanks WIIXM, I haven't yet, I got the quotes to get an idea as to what the insurance would cost when I had a test drive of a MYLR.

Another insurance question/issue. I can't use my NCB on the lease company MY because it's already allocated to my personal car which I'm going to sell shortly, but I can't sell it before taking delivery of the Tesla. How to proceed? I have to get the quotes without the NCB which hurts me (well, the company's bank accounts) a bit. Would it make sense to get a shorter insurance (6 months? is that a thing?) until I sell the car and then transfer the NCB to the other policy and extend it?

My insurance has always allowed me to keep the "old" car, in addition to new one, for a period of time ostensibly for me to sell it. I am sure I had to pay 2nd car insurance, by the week or something like that, and there was a fairly short time limit - couple of months maybe? but in effect my main insurance switched from old car to new car, and old car was covered "for a while" and I don't remember it being expensive (but that was some time ago, and nowadays rates are gouging ...

Hi all,

I’m a 18 year old driver and I’m trying to find a way to insure my M3LR I have tried many many insurers all giving no quotes. I have tried to add my dad and mom who have 20 year plus experiences and 15 year plus no claim bonuses and still no luck. Please assist

Thanks

Try Adrian Flux, if that fails try Googling "young driver performance car specialist" or somesuch. I'm not surprised you're struggling. I tried adding a 20yr old son to our EV insurance a while back and the quoted monthly insurance premium jumped by an insane margin

You may be an exceptional young person but the reality of your age group in s performance car is frightening.
We've been through it and mostly unscathed. But the combination of self belief invulnerability and peer pressure got most of us into trouble we were lucky if we escaped.
Heck I was in a A30 with a 0-60 time of 'maybe' and still managed close calls and 2 wheel corners...

A 19 year old friend of my son has just paid £4000 insurance on an old battered Toyota Celica that only cost £2000 to buy! I dread to think what you’ll be paying on a Tesla, if you can even find someone to cover you.
