Unmarked Roads - Autopilot vs. FSD

I notice that Autopilot won't work on unmarked roads. If I purchased FSD - will that feature become available for me? Ditto for stop signs/stop lights? Or do I need to wait for the FSD 8.x beta release to become available to mere mortals...

You need to do both.

1. Buy FSD
2. Wait for the FSD Beta release, which enables driving on unmarked roads, traffic lights and stop signs, left and right turns, etc.

You don't need Beta to stop and Signs and Lights. That works now and with FSD if going straight through you can confirm continue.

Yes. But I think you have to enable that. I believe it's called "traffic control" in the settings. Same with Navigate on Autopilot and automatic lane changes, etc.

No, only FSD beta works on unmarked roads. FSD that is currently available to the public is no different than regular Autopilot in terms of how it handles unmarked roads.

Agreed, barely useable in current form, at least in my neighborhood. Not only does it ride the center line, it will brake frequently and steer erratically. It's strange because the visualization is accurately displaying the curvature of the road, but the car seems very uncertain. I also noticed it's gotten worse as leaves have begun to accumulate on the roads.

Yes, this is a key point. With the accumulation of leaves on the road, FSD Beta sometimes interprets it as a double yellow line. This is a corner case that will require some additional NN training to resolve.

FSD Beta "works" on unmarked roads. AP wouldn't even engage on unmarked roads.

Yes - it doesn't drive like humans do and its WIP - but it "works". I mean its early access beta, after all.
