We are happy to announce that last Saturday at TeslaCorsa 8 we broke some lap time records at Buttonwillow! It was an amazing 8th TeslaCorsa event for all and many drivers had new personal bests!


The XPO Sales x Unplugged Performance Tesla Model 3 ran a 1:54.6 on race rubber and a 1:57.9 on DOT legal street tires, records in both categories. This was a great improvement over our record nearly a year ago (March 2019) with Randy Pobst clocking a 1:58.5 on Kevin Becker's daily driven Model 3 using UP bolt on upgrades and Cup 2s.


In late 2019 we partnered with XPO Sales (an electric van conversion company) to campaign a race car utilizing our production range of bolt on upgrades. Our goal is to show the world the full potential of the Tesla Model 3 platform and to prove that electric cars are incredible track cars when paired with the right upgrades. Team XPO has done an amazing job campaigning the car and pairing it with an excellent driver in Joshua Allen. We are looking forward to continued upgrades and faster laps as we progress. Remo Weber (Team XPO Sales) and we both feel this is just the beginning. More upgrades are on the way as we keep developing rapidly for the Model 3.

Could you comment on what records were broken? Is it a TeslaCorsa record, or an EV record etc.... there are many Buttonwillow lap times that are closer to 1:30

305 front and rear on this car and on the car we sent to Japan that ran faster than the McLaren F1 around Tsukuba Circuit.
With our front upper control arms we are able to fit 305 wide front tires when combined with our racing spec super light UP-03 wheels.
Both this car and the Tsukuba car run our racing valved coilovers and we set these lap times with our lesser priced coilovers (although we do have even crazier ones that get up there in price using Penske external reservoirs and 3 way adjustability).

As for the flares on the above car - they're just some cheap ebay stuff in the meantime until we release our dry carbon widebody parts and further racing aero.

As far as records - fastest Tesla at Buttonwillow to lap on street tires and on slicks and with the other car fastest Tesla to lap at Tsukuba Circuit (and #23 of all time, highest ranked sedan) on fastestlaps website. That car was on street tires - we used the same 305 wide Cup 2 that is standard equipment on the 997 GT3 RS and beat that same GT3 RS's best posted time by about 1.5 seconds.

We sent our client Erik's Unplugged Performance Ascension-R Model 3 to Japan to have some fun after we completed showing it at SEMA in 2019. The car arrived in Japan in January 2020 and was shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon with Tesla Japan's support. After Tokyo Auto Salon we had our friend Ken take the car to Tsukuba Circuit to participate in an open track day event. Ken had never driven a Tesla before and is an amateur (but skilled) driver who tracks his tuned Honda Civic at Tsukuba. The car's setting is the same as Erik's street specifications, there are no changes to height or parts between street spec and the spec shown. The car has full interior, factory front bumper ground clearance (although a lower front diffuser is coming), and tasteful performance modifications that can be driven daily without compromise. The racing coilovers on the car are quickly hand adjustable and the damping was dialed up more firm for track driving. Tires used are factory OE (original equipment) supplied tires that came standard on all Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) new deliveries, they are not a racing semi-slick DOT tire. The 911 GT3 RS model from which these tires are borrowed has a fastest recorded lap on the same tires of 1:04.51 (1.2 seconds slower than the Unplugged Performance Model 3 Ascension-R which borrows the exact same tire). This helps create a more balanced comparison as the Unplugged Performance Ascension-R Model 3 is designed to be a factory style tuned sports car similar to a GT3, whereas the Porsche GT3 RS goes even further with factory roll bars, further weight reduction and bigger wings. Both the UP Ascension-R and the GT3 RS use carbon ceramic brakes, another similarity.


Overall we feel the car is capable with the current upgrades and no further changes of: 1:02.5 - as is with better weather and more seat time since less than 30 minutes of driving was possible and it was near freezing conditions in February at the track

1:01's with semi-slick DOT legal tires in same widths (we wanted to compare with factory production cars using a factory production tire)

0:59 with stripped interior and racing slicks

* We also feel there is another 1-2 seconds in the car when Tesla releases Track Mode V2 software update which will help reduce traction control interference.


In 2020 we will develop high downforce aerodynamics and further weight reduction parts offered along with our already track proven suspension and braking components.
