So up at 05:00 yesterday to get train from the far North to Edinburgh Tesla to pick up my Model 3 Performance, Black with White.

So with a group of 6 families we were talked through the basics of the red test car. Then our phones were paired and we got introduced to our cars. Everyone at Tesla were very nice and chilled, giving those who needed it a bit more guidance and allowing others to apply their knowledge.

What was very apparent was the difference between this and other car dealer experiences. There was no up selling no pressure and no “Commission” stress. It was enjoyable.

6 cars picked up and everyone was perfect. I still can’t find a fault. The regen is enjoyable and be becomes second nature after 20 mins. The tech works faultlessly.

And, the acceleration OMG. You can literally feel your brain pulled back through the fluid in your skull. I have not felt such a thrill since I went to six flags over California. I thought you were all exaggerating but you were playing it down.

If you have one on order stick with it. You will love it. Its a ground based spaceship....

Still can’t find a fault. All I have is some residual tape from shipping. The car is pristine. And that pace is just so differently delivered from other cars, no one can believe it when you blip past them in a nano second. :D

Hi,

Can you please see if door jambs are correctly painted?

Mine looks as below. Wanted to make a comparison and see if I have to visit Service Centre. IMG_20190903_144048_exported_180081972736961708.jpg

Add me to the very satisfied list with no trim problems and the ceramic coater saying that it was the best Tesla that they had seen for trim and paint quality. In the past week they had done a Raven Model S and another Model 3.

When I got my first BMW back in 2002, I was very surprised on opening the bonnet and the boot to find that the interior had no clear coat - just the base paint and no shiny topping. Compared to the Fords, Vauxhalls and Audis I'd had up to then it seemed pretty shoddy. However, it made zero difference to the look of the car and zero difference to its function. In fact, it proved to be the best car I'd ever owned at the time - and by a long margin (it was an E46 3 series - a car so far ahead of its competition at the time).

I think sparse paint in the Model 3 door jambs probably falls into the same category as the lack of that clear coat in the BMW's boot. The car's fundamentals are way more important than a bit of paint where you'll never see it.

My front door jambs are only half painted as well. When I pointed this out to the delivery specialist he said that they were all like that.

How far north did you come down from and how was getting back? SC/charge place Scotland all working fine? I'm based in Edinburgh but with family in Inverness and occasional work on the north coast, getting up past Thurso is one of the longer trips I'm likely to do. A better rout planner claims only a 5 minute top up is needed, which would be stunning if true!

PS, congrats!

My door jams are all pitch black with a good paint covering. I’m sure Tesla will rectify your paint but that is disappointing for you.

When I say North I mean Aberdeenshire. Stopped at the Dundee superchargers and they worked perfectly. Been testing the Charge Your Car card on the free chargers in Aberdeenshire and getting abut a 75% success rate. I would be a bit nervous about heading beyond Inverness, but the best apps to help are plug share and charge your car.

Sounds like you had a great experience - this sentence confuses me though, surely at other dealers the upselling etc. only happens when you're ordering the car not collecting it (at least that's my experience)?

Not really, with all my ICE deliveries, I've been hounded at delivery to buy various things, such as shark fin radio antennas, GAP insurance, mats, seat cover protections, all kind of stuff. On my wifes previous purchase the dealer even tried to insist on me signing a form to confirm that I had been offered these things but had refused to purchase. Most annoying.
