VIN info

I have a questions regarding the VIN #'s....

It was my understanding that the 10th digit is the vehicle model year.

Am looking to purchase a Model S which is advertised as a 2014, ( P85D ), with the 10th digit being an E -
that would, I thought, indicate that it was a 2015 model. BUT, the built date on the door jamb sticker shows a build
date of 12/14 and the vehicle registration shows it's a 2014.

How would I go about verifying exactly what it is ??

Anyone have any thought on this ??

Digit 10 = "E" indicates a 2014 Model.

I have noticed a few dealerships in my area listing a 12/14 model S as a 2015 and when I call them on it they play dumb(actually are dumb). I always refer to vin decoder listed above or if possible look at the door jamb.
