Worry about leaking from windshield of model y

Does anyone have pictures of how their windshield lower corners look? Mine has this gap on both lower corners. The service guy said this is normal. Now I am concern after seeing some of the feedback here.

These are normal on the 3's FYI. Some are narrower than others but the gap was always there on all the 3's I've seen. Not surprising it's there on the Y.

I asked my mobile service guy yesterday on the same windshield gap, he said that's by design on all Model Y.

I doubt its by design. I've haven't seen gaps like that on any other car, and just like a hole/gap on a roof water will penetrate... unless maybe there's a channel underneath to divert water that I just couldn't see.

If the M3 has this same gap and that car has been out in the field for 2+ years and no issues then isnt it safe that the MY will be okay with the same gap?

Maybe this thread should be cross-posted on the M3 forum. Seems the M3 owners could shed some light on this potential issue.

My first stop after delivery will be one of those high-pressure touchless car washes. I want to check the glass roof, window seals, rear hatch, and now this and be prepared to photo document the event. If it checks out great, if not I have 7 days to consider my options.

I searched the M3 forum about this issue, some said there should be a plastic trim over the gap area. And from this forum, sounds like some MY owners don't the gap at all. I want to find some pictures to show the service guy at my next appointment.

Just checked my GMC and it also has gaps on the lower side between glass and plastic cover (and seems water can go under it). Seems that some sort of “feature “ but worth checking on pressure wash for sure. Been in very heavy rain on it and was ok.

Same, I have the same gaps on both side. Planning to water test on Sunday. Going to check under the hood/maintenance panel to see if water goes into the area.

the plastic winshield surrounds on cars aren't watertight. They are trim pieces for cosmetic purposes. Having said that, Tesla should have designed their surround to cover another 1/2 inch of the windshield so nobody has to look at gaps! leaves and dirt will get into the crevice and it just looks bad.

Pulled off the service panel and used a flashlight to see where the gap leads...it appears there are parts down there that probably shouldn't get water or dirt around it.

As far as I can tell, all model Ys that I have seen have the same gap. Have washed my MY many times with no apparent problem. SC told me that this was normal by design.

Pour some water in there and see where it goes..... Better to have it happen controlled than stuck in a downpour.

Thet black plastic piece is a cosmetic trim piece. The windshield is held into place with butyl and adhesive. That plastic trim piece is not meant to create a seal. Not a very good design. Almost an afterthought.

Checked with service center. Tech came out and looked and said its by design and everything under it is waterproof. Should never be a problem according to the tech.

I am at the service center now and checked out 3 other Y at the lot. They all have the gaps on both sides.

My Model Y that I saw yesterday before today's delivery has the same gap on both sides. On the drivers side I can see painted metal. On the passenger side I see a hole. Another MY nearby showed black sealant on both sides. My sales rep is aware of the issue and said he would tell the detailers.
