All Warning Lights Flickered on/off same time and car kept moving forward

No, we had just got into the car, backed up out of a parking spot and were taking off to leave. Had only been in the car for 30-60 seconds.

All Warning Lights Flickered on/off same time and car kept moving forward

Hey all -- Car: 2019 M3 Long Range, Dual Motor w/ software 2020.4.1 Last night I had a very weird and somewhat scary thing happen. We were backing out of a parking space, and I noticed that when I put the car into drive, the rear view camera didn't go away. I also noticed that every warning...

Did I really lose 4% of our battery?

I set it with the app when the app showed 96%, but it charged to 100% this morning. Sorta misleading.. ehh, whatever. A bug or something. Thanks for the replies!

Did I really lose 4% of our battery?

Just went to charge the car to 100% but the app shows it maxed out at 96%. Does this mean we’ve had a true 4% batter loss? 17k miles, 7 months old. Long range dual motor. Thanks...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

Since going from 4.4 to 3.9 doesn't seem like a lot, I had to explain that the closer you get to zero, how much more difficult it is so every 0.1 second that is removed, that's actually a lot. "...and Babe, this gets us 0.5 seconds - that's a lot!!" haha.. Here is how this is going to go down...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

For those wondering what the email looks like... The pic is below, but also here is the text so it becomes searchable. We have a LR AWD w/FSD so we didn't have any "Upgrades" area/button in our account. Now we do when I log into Tesla.com and click the manage button for the car. This is...

“More Valuable” Stealth Performance Model 3 Unicorn

Is there an easy way to see which rear motor you have? We have a 2019 AWD that we picked up on July 1st this year. Ours has a B on the eighth digit. Is there a way to make this a stealth? Not sure I'm following what people are saying about this..

MASTER THREAD: V 2019.40.1.1 170kW charging, Neural Net for Auto Wipers, Auto Lane Change quicker

Thanks for the reply. I know about the pushing of that button but like you, not sure if that constitutes the way we’re supposed to adjust the auto wipers which can add data to the neural network. It’s mentioned all over but doesn’t say how we’re supposed to adjust it to contribute to it. What...

MASTER THREAD: V 2019.40.1.1 170kW charging, Neural Net for Auto Wipers, Auto Lane Change quicker

So can someone tell me how the neural network for the wipers work? I understand that you set it to AUTO to make use of the neural network’s trained ability to automatically turn the wipers on and off. What I don’t know is how to make the adjustments to the wipers. If I have it set to AUTO and...

    TeslaFi Sleep Settings with Stats

Hey all — For those that both use TeslaFi and Stats with the sleep settings on TeslaFi, what sleep settings do you use there? What works well for you such that you don’t miss any drives and such? I’ve turned sleep off currently on TeslaFi but I’d like to re-enable it - just want to see what...

    Battery degradation - 2019.32.2.2

If this range thing is really dependent on temperature - which is fine, I just wish they would tell us that. ...and the fact that there is this whole rounding issue - the two coupled together is what sends people over the edge trying to figure it out when there's nothing to figure out.

The PDF doesn't work well either. Do you have a Gmail account? If so, just copy/paste the data below the chart into a Google Sheet and make the sheet viewable by anyone with the link. Paste the link here. Then I can grab the data real quick and you can take it down. When you paste it into a...

If anyone else uses TeslaFi.com, I'd be happy to take all your charge data and do the same thing to see if we can see any patterns that work out best. Just copy/paste the data into a spreadsheet or something and attach it to a post. Just make sure the TeslaFi.com settings for your battery...

Ok, looking at the data more, trying to take a different direction from the data I have available to me... It looks like I have had much better luck charging over the long run charging to 85 and 86% than I have had charging to 90. Interesting that over many completed charges that 90% has done...

    Battery degradation - 2019.32.2.2

Hm.. Sorry, I can't stop thinking about this. If the rounding error minimizes at the higher the SOC, I'm wondering if that is what helps increase the range. Here is a side question.. When I've charged to 100%.. It gets there to 100% and then sits for a long while, current still flowing for...

Ah damn, sorry to hear that. It's a real bummer. Not sure why, but this whole thing really bothers the hell out of me. I feel like I can't just leave it alone and roll with it. Really bugs me. I guess I don't have any choice though.. I don't want to keep screwing around with it and end up...

    Battery degradation - 2019.32.2.2

Happy Thanksgiving! Yeah, that's what I think too.. It depends when the charging stops - not how much it was charged. Which is why I started charging and stopping to see if I could figure things out. I dunno, I'm at a loss at this point and feel defeated. lol I'm not sure what to do except...

Letting it sit overnight didn't seem to have any benefit. Starting to think that the rounding error is all in display which is why I can't stack on top of each rounding error. Some people in another thread say they've fixed theirs but I didn't think about the software version they were on...

    Battery degradation - 2019.32.2.2

Hey @Sherlo, can you tell us what your estimated miles at 100% are currently and also what version of the software you're running? I didn't think to ask that. I'm on 2019.36.2.1 and don't seem to be having any luck.

    Loss of Range thoughts

Charged back up to 50% so I could see things happening. This was the best I was able to do since the rounding error is smaller at this level. Now the question is.. Can I build off this as it's new "base". Will see tomorrow I guess.
  30. Allistah

    Loss of Range thoughts

Here is the dilemma I have.. I can't see anything under 50% because TeslaFi (or the car, or someone) doesn't log data for charges under 50%. I've done what I think I needed to do and the max range is now 296 in Stats. I guess I should just let it sit there overnight and then charge it to 50%...

Unfortunately, TeslaFi.com doesn't show any charge data for less than 50%. :-( Here is the screenshot where I stopped the charging at which I hope helped kickstart this thing... Take a look at the red box. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to charge to 50% to see it reflect on this...

    Loss of Range thoughts

It's all good, I'm doing most of the observation from the usual cycles I do on a daily basis. Our car gets driven around 115-150 miles a day so it's easier for me to see this stuff over a shorter amount of time. I've maybe done two smaller cycles for this which isn't much. My wife does the...

    Loss of Range thoughts

Thanks for posting - and a great question. I talked with a SC the other day for a long while about this and he told me that when the car sits for some amount of time (the amount of time wasn't disclosed) that the battery pack will stabilize and the car will take readings at that time which...

    Loss of Range thoughts

Also for those following, when you use the car and the battery level and miles drop, you can see this number jump around in Stats for iOS. The lower the SOC gets, the bigger it jumps around. This is what I'm trying to target the next time I charge. I'm going to run down to 20% which will...
  37. Allistah

    Loss of Range thoughts

I understand what you mean but I'm referring to the "Estimated Miles at 100%" which is used in TeslaFi's "Battery Degradation Report" which seems to be also reflected in the car. If what you say is true, I should be unable to change the miles shown in the car when you have it set to show miles...

    Loss of Range thoughts

Well, I plan on using Stats for iOS since it gives live updates from the car during charges. Since the rounding errors are greater at lower SOCs, I'm going to try to start charing at 20%, then literally watch Stats and after a few minutes when I hit a high point, stop the charging for the night...

    Loss of Range thoughts

Oh when I was down in the sub 10% range, the rounding error is HUGE. This is what I'm saying, I think they're using that rounding error in their data and that is a problem. This would explain the such randomness that people see, up and down. It's all over the place. If what I think is true...

    Loss of Range thoughts

I went back and looked at some old charges where I lost range in a single charge. It appeared that I lost range because the charging stopped on the wrong side of the rounding error. Here is a chart I made that shows the rounding error in a single charge. If I would have stopped the charging...

    Loss of Range thoughts

Here is a shot of my overall range and showing that I was able to create an uptick in my range just by stopping the charging on the right side of the rounding error.
  42. Allistah

    Loss of Range thoughts

Some additional thoughts... Since the rounding error grows as the SOC goes lower, this may be why those who have been charging to lower % numbers have experienced a rise in their range. For example, I've been at 288-290 for a long while but just this morning but stopping my charge at just the...

    Loss of Range thoughts

Hey there.. Many don't want to partake in the figuring out of the range loss conversations and trying to see if there is anything we can do about it. Which is fine, we all have that choice. For those that are interesting in playing around with things like myself, I wanted to throw these...

Tesla wall charger users. What size wire is your charger using?

I heard that the cheap one doesn't have spring loaded contacts on the inside so they weaken over time. The where the wires go in, they’re not strand friendly so the strands spread out and they get crushed which decreases the contact area quite a bit and of course, generates more heat. I had a...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Yeah they said to keep charging to 90% and that it would take a month or two for things to stable out. That drives me insane. I'll change up when I charge, but will just keep it at 90% I guess. I wish they would put some time into this to see if there was anything they could do to make this a...

Plan to Fix Decrease in "Est. Range at 100%" Problem

He didn't say why it only measured voltage at the lower levels. He said the readings are separate for the low and high end of the battery so it is good to let the battery "settle" at both ends so it can take the measurements it needs. Last night it sat at 26% until after midnight when it came...

Did you know the 3 heats the battery (actively) constantly while DC charging at any speed or temp?

So it doesn’t heat it up when charging with AC at home? If that’s the case I wonder why or why not?

Did you know the 3 heats the battery (actively) constantly while DC charging at any speed or temp?

I really wish they had this app for iOS, I'd buy it in a second I think. You could learn so much about this car this way.
