Did I really lose 4% of our battery?

...Just went to charge the car to 100% but the app shows it maxed out at 96%.

Does this mean we’ve had a true 4% batter loss? 17k miles, 7 months old. Long range dual motor.

Thanks...

Usually, 100% charge should be compared with 100% charge and not against 96%.

If it's completed at 96%, that could be the inaccuracy of the BMS battery Management System.

The new 96% should be re-labeled as 100% just like the old time.

Its inaccuracy could be exacerbated by your charging habit.

Do you faithfully charge your car to 90% every night?

If you do that, it may take some time but eventually, the BMS will recalibrate to the right numbers.

Doubt it. A battery with lost capacity still shows 100%. Try using the heat set to max for 15 minutes (~1.75kWh) to run the battery down to 94% and then restart the charge to 100%.

96% showing as a full charge is different from 100% showing 4% less range than expected.
How many miles of range is the 96% showing?
If this has only happened once I'd run it down a bit and charge it again like it was suggested above.
