My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Well I purchased my car outright with my own money, and spent £5,800 on features never delivered. You are totally welcome to disagree with me, or have done the same and be totally happy. But personally I feel justified in being a little annoyed.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

I love my car. I’ve had it for over 4 years. But there’s still space for nuance. Sometimes you wouldn’t think it’s allowed.

Let’s all chill please. I hardly ever use this forum but it always seems when I do it’s like this. Not a great place.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Oh I do understand, as the same requirements make automatic lane changes entirely unsuitable for U.K. motorways too in my experience. But that’s not the point. Just because it’s impractical, doesn’t stop Tesla delivering it in a limited form in beta, as they have on motorways. Anyway. I don’t...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Does anyone who purchased FSD separately in 2019 recall any terms and conditions separate i would accept level 2 with lane change confirmation as having met “Automatic driving on city streets.”

Obviously this is also my belief, but legally what is the position?

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Tesla seem to be leaning quite heavily on this from the FSD page... "The currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous. The activation and use of these features are dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers as...

Same as mine probably. “Tesla is disappointed, values its customers, but not you.”

I’ve given them the extra time they’ve asked for. If they deny the claim then it’s going section 75. Already started the process, it’s just paused.

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

You're right, really there are a great many factors that made it seem worth the £5,800 at the time, certainly the initially promised functionality but also the rhetoric about auto-taxi making money for you and all that, that a Tesla with FSD is an appreciating asset, etc. That fight isn't for...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

That's assuming there's nobody else who bought based on the same wording, but I did, and this experience report is helping me with my own path to resolution. Not sure what's the point of arguing what's been gained and who won what, the point is that 2019 wording was mis-selling FSD, and that if...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Yeah, buying a second hand Tesla with FSD is quite different to ordering it based on this objective nonsense as I did :(

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

I'm afraid cracking on its own is exactly what happened to mine after nearly 3 years. Heat and/or the design of the screen not providing adequate expansion/contraction room for the glass is my theory. But I repeat, no external force other than temperature changes was applied to my screen. Tesla...

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Nobody spoke to me at any point! They were doing the screen, a new rear light, and new rear door handle, just did it all and didn’t speak to me once.

Tesla sorted it out, no questions asked 👍🏼

I fear you might be right, but I very rarely have passengers, usually only my wife.

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

It’s 2019 so it has been through a few seasonal cycles by now. Fingers crossed they replace it for me. There are no signs of impact anywhere. I’ve had it from new and am the only person who drives it, so I would know if anything had ever hit it. I’ll report back once I’ve been seen by the big T.

    Model 3 screen spontaneously cracked

Got into my Model 3 last night and the screen was going mad, moving the map by itself, not responding to touches, I hadn’t driven the car for a few days. On closer inspection in daylight there’s a fine crack the whole way across the screen. Nothing has ever hit it, it has just happened in the...

UK 2021 Refresh RHD Model 3 Accessories [megathread]

If you can get the official Tesla ones, do. I had some like these from Amazon and they started looking pretty crap after a couple of months, they (at least the ones I bought) are not anything like as good quality as the real Tesla ones.

    UK Tesla App v4

This is pretty much the only reason I bought the fob. A long press on the back always does what I want. Why the app doesn't have the same smarts is just weird. I say the only reason, that's not true, but it is much more convenient.

    Key Fob + Key Band

Mine seems to stay put pretty firmly (for now), but it seems to me to be a tiny bit loose until it settles in, after which it feels like it's stuck to the fob. They don't seem like they'll last forever though, and it's a pretty high asking price. That said, I did buy a cheaper thing from...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

The outside doors are definitely worse than the Model 3, but there is only one button, so there's not much there to mislead people. Weird but not difficult to figure out by yourself. At least there's an actual problem to solve by rethinking the exterior handles of a car: Traditional handles...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

I think we will never agree on it as fundamentally I don’t think it’s ok to have to explain how to get out (even as little as once per new passenger), you both think it is ok to have to explain it. We just have to accept that we are differing in this.

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

By “soft” handle I mean a button that looks like a handle, just like the exterior ones. People are looking for a mechanical handle (like how they go for the emergency release in the front unless you tell them not to), they don’t give a damn if it actually is mechanical. A button that looks like...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

That would help, but I have had them adjust them and they still stay closed 🤷‍♂️ The real question is “What is the problem with a regular handle (even if it’s a “soft” handle) that is solved with a button?” I can’t find a reason to make it different.
  34. T

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

The external handles you can figure out by playing, they’re not too bad. The internal rear door exit mechanism is boggling for people, because even if you get the right button it just winds the window down a bit, so then they think they hit the wrong button and try the other button, which also...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

You lot can say what you want, I have fully able bodied friends that have struggled with them too. I do UX design for a living, if literally everyone needs it explaining to them then it's bad UX. But keep on it if you like, but I will absolutely not be changing my mind after over 2 years of...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

They don't help if your passengers have poor eyesight sadly. And you still have to learn the elbow shove button push combo (with the back doors in particular) even if you get the right button.
  37. T

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

I'm pretty OK with the exterior handles, people seem to figure them our after a few moments poking, it's getting out from the inside that's an out and out design mistake. Honestly whoever performed usability testing for the design needs to be slapped because they don't know what failing...

    I can't handle it! - A Rant

There are some very annoying Tesla fanatics that come out with the "The doors are fine, your friends are stupid." statement. The reality is, I have the stupid little "Door open" stickers on the buttons, I've explained how to get out of the car countless times, but every single time I take my...

    [UK] 2021.36.x

I bought FSD after purchasing the car. My thinking was that for the money I can get 4 years of use out of what it does now (lane changing, summon, slightly more useful on motorways) plus whatever improvements come in those 4 years, as opposed to waiting for the improvements, paying more for it...

    [UK] 2021.40.x

That's what would be great about having AA and ACP as options, it's pretty low effort for Tesla as it's essentially just a remote desktop client type setup, and it gives those that want AA or ACP that choice, while everyone who is totally (and understandably) happy with the native UI can just...

I'd love to see Android Auto and Apple Car Play available, and put them in a window (like the Mach-E does) then you keep the people who don't want it happy, and folk like me who see a use case will be happy too :)

    If not this Tesla what?

I had a Kona on order in 2019, while I was waiting I kept doing research and ultimately the Supercharger network and ease of charging by contrast to endless problems with other cars/networks had me convinced over. There are other reasons I prefer the Tesla, like better software, PIN to drive...

Tidal and in car audio with 2021.40.x

I keep seeing 96kbps quoted, can anyone share how this is known, is it documented somewhere? I can normally tell low bitrate audio and have found Spotify to be acceptable without the amount of underwater swishing in cymbals and high-hats that I’d normally associate with such low bit rate!
